Hunters

Hi Bungie, First let me start by saying that Destiny is literally the only game I ever play because it is exceedingly captivating. I am truly a fan of Destiny and I have the utmost respect and appreciation for Bungie. You guys have done and continue to do a phenomenal job at responding to the needs/demands of the player-base. I also deeply respect the players of Destiny, who bring the game to life and make it so awesome. You guys rock, and you are all family as far as I am concerned. In fact I forged many great friendships with fellow Destiny players, and that's something I can't say about other games. That said, I'd like to get a few things off my chest regarding the hunter class. For the record, I use all three classes and I appreciate them all very much. For some reason however, hunters really resonate with me. The whole idea of a reclusive, solitary, calculated soldier that relies on wits, precision, and ingenuity to navigate a vast, tumultuous war zone really struck home for me. My hunter is my primary character and I've been through it all with him, since day 1, year 1. Hunter has many noteworthy abilities, but I do feel as though with respect to the other classes, hunter is somewhat at a disadvantage. To clarify, I'll start with the basics. Titan and warlock clearly excel in the jumping arena. Hunter's jumping ability is not that great. It is precise and I'll give it that, but in terms of getting good distance, it can be a bit frustrating. This is especially true when using blink in the bladedancer subclass. For the record, I am an excellent platformer, using double and tripple jump (and the quad jump with bones). I have had many hours of practice using blink and I have acclimated to the nuances of using it, but there are many times when I fall just short of a key platform needed to gain leverage in a particular fight. When platforming great heights, I tend to switch away from bladedancer altogether as the jumping ability overall in that subclass is not on par with the others. Nonetheless, I really enjoy using blink, which is now my new "go-to" evasive maneuver in light of the nerf to shade step, which I will address shortly. I can still do two blinks successively without a cooldown, unlike the new shade step. I wish Bungie would increase the distance on blink jumps, if even slightly. I don't think that's asking for much. Secondly, hunter's overall health, or rather, ability to endure damage does not seem on par with warlock and titan. I understand the thinking behind this, but I do feel as though a fair tradeoff would be a slight increase in overall agility (+1) across hunter's subclasses. In my opinion, a striker subclass is far more agile then a hunter on any of the related subclasses. I would expect a hunter to boast the greatest agility given the nature of the three classes when considered together. I feel that a small boost to hunter's overall agility is a fair ask, if not a boost to overall health. The last thing I will mention for now is the shade step, as promised. Shade step is a beautiful ability that when originally implemented, gave hunter a de facto agility increase that really added balance to the fight. I understand why certain players (i.e. warlocks and titans) were complaining about it in the crucible, but I have to say, there were plenty of times when I got destroyed in a crucible match and I was shade stepping all over the place. I never felt as though the balance was off overall due to the ability to perform two consecutive shade steps with no cooldown. That is not exactly a game-changer given that titan gets an impenetrable shield with a plethora of perks and warlock can self-res. I thought the balance was spot on. Now however, with the cooldown, shade step is terrible. I feel the same for both PvP and PvE, but especially in PvE. A single shade step is not going to get you out of the way of a volley of arc blasts when facing two wizards for example. Blink does a better job at that. I really think Bungie should at least consider removing the cooldown for PvE purposes. And on a side note, they should make the graviton forfeit grant shade step across subclasses. It's pretty useless to tie up an exotic slot just for shade step when you can only use the helmet as a nightstalker. Thats's no good. Alas, I have more to say but unfortunately I do not have the time, so perhaps I'll make another post at a later date, but I really hope those of you reading who empathize with this post will help bump this to Bungie so that maybe we can get some changes going. I will still play Destiny either way, but I think it's worth putting it out there that Bungie should take better care of hunter going forward. Thanks everyone, peace.
