• The Internet Service Providers don't do the programming.... If that's so why has Sony filed suit to Bungie to fix this problem instead of Mediacom? How can Mediacom be responsible for Bungie's servers? I have Internet, I can connect to anything but Bungie, play any game but Destiny. I have 60 down and 6 up. I've got the bandwidth, the $70/month ISP, brand new Linksys router, and an old Netgear that didn't work either. Mediacom doesn't have access to the code that is causing the issue with Destiny and Destiny alone. Nobody but Bungie can access that. Ever heard of industrial espionage by chance? But whatever, you got it all figured out. You didn't ask anything about our situation, just assumed you knew what the problem is and what we're are doing wrong to fix it. If you were here to help, you would have asked questions first. But, I'm wasting my time most likely, I'm sure you still got it all figured out...

  • How many people are having this issue out of millions of players? Not many, check your network and settings. This is NOT a Bungie issue.

  • Dude! There's enough to have dozens posting on the forums experiencing the same thing. Even if it were just me, that's enough. I paid like everyone else. Lastly I've been dealing with engineers, PSN, Mediacom and many others. We know what's going on. I've already gone through my end, it's all good. I'm not sitting here blaming because I don't want to try anything else. We got this, and you coming in thinking you know what's actually going on is not helping. Your intentions don't make it any different. Trust me, I wish it were my end, because I can fix that. But it's not. You're thought process of walking in here and just assuming im ranting and blaming without knowing was your choice. You didn't ask what we have tried or what we know, you just come in and say it's me. I did all I could the first 24 hours eliminating that possibility. It's been over 72 hours. Bungie has acknowledged the problem, Sony has filed suit to Bungie to fix it. We all have Mediacom. Do you even know where our downloads are freezing? The exact MB's? Because it's all the same and if you can't answer that question then you aren't familiar with this problem and have done nothing but assume. Just saying, not mad or confrontational, just saying... I don't need another person up in here causing problems and not helping. We are trying to solve an issue and trust me. Nobody is going to just walk in here and have the answer. This situation is so far beyond that, you have no idea!! 🙂 hehe This is more complicated than you appear to understand. But don't worry, we got the right people on it, they're just slow about it is all...

Most reports of this issue seem to be coming from people with the same ISP. Not all, but most. So apparently the problem has some kind of a connection to a specific service or people's location.
Ever heard of industrial espionage by chance?
Are you accusing Bungie of sabotaging your downloads for some unknown nefarious reason? What's the rationale behind that thought?

  • Oh Light??!? You really think I meant conspiracy theory? No just meant that every business will have protocols for protecting their company secrets. Like Bungie, not allowing any ISP to just change and reprogram their game at leisure. Nobody but Bungie can touch that software. Hence my question of industrial espionage... Nobody can fix this but Bungie. An ISP is just an ISP... They're not programming anything.

  • You're assuming the argument has anything to do with intentional code reprogramming when that doesn't have to happen at all for there to be corrupted downloads. A disruption in the download process by your ISP or the serving of the content from the PS/Xbox networks can cause such a problem. NOBODY is implying ISPs are even looking at the game's coding whatsoever, just you.

  • No, I'm saying the ISP doesn't deal with code, just service provision... That would make all ISP's responsible for programming access to all servers across the world. Somehow, I don't think they're running it that way. And I'm just being nice, there is no way you can possibly run a network where an ISP is responsible from programming my game. Sony filed suit to Bungie, not Mediacom... Now Bungie is going to have to work with Mediacom, but ultimately Bungie will be pressing the keys to program whatever to allow us to download again. I know for a fact if Mediacom were responsible, it'd never get fixed... They're terrible about service

Again, it's not just programming that can cause the issue... I'm just saying you're putting all your finger pointing into one basket and not considering the possibilities. I think you said before that your bandwidth is 60 down and 6 up, which isn't very much. I pay the same as you, yet I get 200 down and 20 up through Comcast. You also said you're on an old modem. The fact that you can only download so much could be a factor in data packets being mixed or failing during the transfer process. Alternatively, the files may be routed through multiple points on their way to you, which is common. This could potentially cause some corrupt data depending on the quality and condition of the server(s) they're going through. If it's mostly Mediacom customers, which apparently isn't a great ISP from what I've heard, it could be one of the routing stations they pass data through as a default, hence why reports are largely from Mediacom customers. And the file is not small either, at 30+ GB. ANY network interruption could cause the problem. Firewalls, closed ports, ISP throttling, old unserviced servers lacking maintenance, etc. These are just a few possibilities. Bungie is of course the source of the files, but it's a question of how the data is being transferred around, not so much the code. Because obviously the majority have no such problem downloading and installing.
