They seem to ignore the grimoire card from Rasputin that says that he was the one that kept the Traveller from leaving us.

At the very beginning of the article it says that everything was presented to Bungie for approval. The article also points out areas where Bungie declined to confirm or deny the accuracy. What that means is, contrary to what some people have been saying for two years based on their own misinterpretation, Rasputin did not attack the Traveler. Oh ... and Eris was a Hunter. We can finally put that to bed.
-
Well, the Eris one is a lot clearer, I mean, they actually use the word hunter in the GF: The Queen 2.

This is not true. Those who paid attention to all the grimoire cards (not just the one about a contingency IF the traveller tried to flee) have known since vanilla destiny that Rasputin never had to enact that protocol as the traveller didn't try to flee. Source : Ghost Fragment : Mysteries

I see you doing some serious work refuting all these misguided people. Feel free to link this if you like: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/206031024?showBanned=0&path=0

I replied to that post back in June, great post. Thanks for the link, it could come in handy :)

That card does not insinuate at all that Rasputin didn't use that contingency. And if you actually read that Rasputin card, you would know that that card is in fact him enabling that protocol. Not a test or a "if this happens then do this". He was enabling the protocol. He used it.
-
Either you are trolling or you didn't read either of the cards because you are wrong. On the card discussing the contingency it details the things that must happen to enact it, the last being the IF imminent departure is evident then it would launch. In the card I provided Rasputin says in his own words how he admires the traveller for not hiding like he did.
-
I've read the card you mentioned multiple times and read no such sentence "admired the Traveller for not leaving" Unless you provided the wrong card. Ghost fragment: mysteries says no such thing. And the Rasputin card says that all those things are in effect. Yes they were pre requisites and they were all happening. I've read both cards mentioned multiple times in the past few minutes. We're obviously at an impasse. Good day sir.

"I AM ALONE I survived alone. I cast off the shield and I shrugged my shoulders so that the billions fell off me down into the ash. They made me to be stronger than them and to learn and I learned well: IT is alone and IT is strong and IT won. Even over the gardener and she held power beyond me but the gardener did not shrug and make herself alone. IT always wins." Above is an excerpt from the Ghost Fragment Mysteries. He is talking about how he went dormant to fight another day, IT is the darkness and the gardener is the Traveller. He is saying the gardener didn't shrug and make herself alone, that she didn't hide or run away. You can continue to believe what you would like but Bungie has confirmed with this article that my interpretation of this is the correct one.

A) Rasputin most certainly created and enabled a protocol to hit the traveler if it tried to leave. We're not told whether or not that happened, but we are told in a different card that all the conditions were met for Loki Crown to be put into effect. Meaning the "if" was met. B) I'm skeptical about Rasputin talking about the traveler when he discusses the Gardener. For one thing, he says "IT won", but if IT is the darkness, it doesn't appear to have actually won since the traveler still still have exists and humanity wasn't wiped out. We don't have a clear yes or no either way, but there are more cards supporting that Rasputin had a plan, placed the weapon, enabled the protocol, and then the conditions of the protocol were met.

The collapse of our entire civilization plunging what remained of humanity into a centuries long dark age can be considered a win and what grimoire confirms that all criteria was met? Specifically where does it show that departure of the traveller was imminent.

Edited by cViking: 8/26/2016 11:05:34 PMThe article said some of the information Bungie declined to confirm or deny so some information is possible to be inaccurate. This is one that in till Bungie them self outright states Rasputin did not do it some will believe that he did attack the traveler
This is a SUBTLE ASSETS IMPERATIVE (NO HUMAN REVIEW) (NO AI-COM REVIEW) (secure/ABHOR). Stand by for CRITERIA: Under CARRHAE (WHITE or BLACK) If SECURITY STATE is EGYPTIAN If event rank is TEILHARD: TRAUMATIC CONTEXT or SKYSHOCK: OUTSIDE CONTEXT If VOLUSPA is ACTIVE and in FAILURE [[synapse to FENRIR::SURTR]] If YUGA is ACTIVE and in SUNDOWN If AI-COM has granted PERMISSIVE POTENTIATION to outboard resilient instances If a CIVILIZATION KILL EVENT is underway [[all flexions]] If tactical morality is built at MIDNIGHT Stand by for DECISION POINT: If available ISR and WARWATCH indicates imminent [O] departure >then [O] departure compromises human/neohuman survival and epoch strategy Stand by for ABHORRENT IMPERATIVE:
This states what If facter you are speakign of, after stating the IF this occurs Rasputin goes into stand by awaiting further action.
Activate LOKI CROWN Perform deniable authorization: full caedometric and noetic release Prevent [O] departure by any means available Stand by for effect assessment criteria: Coerce pseudoaltruistic [O] defensive action. Defer civilization kill. STOP STOP STOP V101NTS923ATS00
The next action rasputin takes is he Activate loki crown to prevent O(the traveler) from departing by any means possible then he goes into stand by to asses the effects of the action. The next thing we see is that the Loki Crown attack from Rasputin has Coerce pseudoaltruistic [O] defensive action. Defer civilization kill. What does this mean? This means due to activating the Loki crown the Traveler is forced to stay and Defer or Push back the inevitable Civilization kill which would of been caused by the darkness. Well what about the Mystery card, I can explain that.
I AM ALONE I survived alone. I cast off the shield and I shrugged my shoulders so that the billions fell off me down into the ash. They made me to be stronger than them and to learn and I learned well:
This is words from Rasputin, "I cast of the shield and I shrugged my shoulder so that the billions fell off me down into the ash" This is describing how he activated is defenses in this case the Loki Crown and then shrugged his shoulder because after there was nothing else Rasputin could do. the result was that Billions fell off(were affected by) his actions.
IT is alone and IT is strong and IT won. Even over the gardener and she held power beyond me but the gardener did not shrug and make herself alone. IT always wins.
Whats this is showing is that once the darkness finally arrives the traveler instead of admitting defeat decides to attempt to fight back and does not fight alone. So to summarize, Rasputin did not exactly cripple the traveler but did force the traveler to stay. In the end the traveler decided to fight back instead of admitting defeat. With this the traveler was able to push back the darkness but with out paying the price for it resulting in the traveler being crippled by IT.

The article was proof read by Bungie and they said they would clearly state what parts were speculation, the rest is confirmed by Bungie as accurate. That the traveller stayed on its own was not listed as speculation.

Like I said we can agree to disagree in till we hear the actually words come out of a Bungie employees mouth. Remember when that interview the person from Bungie supposedly said and confirmed Eris to be a warlock? Well we know how that turned out.
