Is anyone else inconsistent as hell? Lol

Okay look I'm not a pvp god or anything. Hella average. BUT I have games (usually in a row) where I have like 25 kills and 4 deaths. Every shot is on point. Snipes? Pssshhh hitting like a shotgun main claims snipers hit. All I can think is hot diggty damn I'm -blam!-ing killing this game. Then for about 10 games in a row i may scrape by with a crispy .10 KD. Trials? Trials? Shoot I'll smack people with 2200 Elos and then lose to people with 1400 Elos.. Blows my mind how inconsistent I am and it's absolutely nerve racking. Lol. Any one else feel my pain?

  • I'm convinced there is something in the back ground that nerfs you when your winning to much or playing too well. I just made a new account first few PvP games I dropped a 5+ kd with blue guns. It was like shooting fish in a barrel. Then... Laggy as hell no hit registration playing against last word snipers and thorn shotguns. I feel so bad for actual genuine new players, good luck getting them to stick around.

It's the sbmm. It's like a pendulum. It swings to one side when you do well then matches get harder and vice verse. Best thing to do is to play rumble if you ever doubt your skill. It seems to do this the least

  • I had a game with a 24.0kd as my best, I had a game with .1 as my worst. So I feel the pain. Shit happens

  • Sometimes it happens to me. Last week I was averaging almost 4.0 kdr a match. But then by Friday I could tell I was getting matched with people who are clearly above me. I didn't mind the challenge, but any mistakes resulted in quick death, and so I would go 1-3 matches of. 5-1, and then 3-5 matches of 1.5-2.5. Either way, my overall KDR improved to 1.3 (which took MONTHS ), but yeah, I can feel the variation as well.

  • I can be inconsistent between multiple games but not always sure it's me or my red bar connection. I would like to think it's more my red bar connection though.

  • It's inconsistent as hell. My kdr has tanked. I had one yesterday that was 4 something then had one that was like .40.

  • Same. It's really diminishing my interest in buying Rise of Iron (or at least a full price).

  • It's Bungie's matchmaking algorithm. I'm done fighting it. I just go with the flow.

  • Yep. Really decent in most of my games back in a few months. One month later of having inconsistent sessions, I kept getting negatives and kept making bad decisions. Went better these past few days, but bot as good as I used to be. Feels good to get that off my chest.

  • I think it has everything to do with lack of dedicated servers. This old school shit has always created this problem. One player's console in each match is selected to be the 'host' and all other players data goes to and from that host machine, which handles synchronizing the actions of all players - like running, jumping, shooting, and dying. The 'host' has an advantage in that that player experiences zero lag - it's his or her machine that the match is essentially taking place on. Everyone else . . . depending on distance and numerous other factors . . . they experience lag to various degrees. Sometimes unnoticeable, sometimes game breaking. This is why skill based match making is so problematic - it looks for people in close proximity to each other, to help minimize lag, but filters it to account for level of skill, which means lots of matches with players considerably further away from each other - which equals more lag and broken games.

  • I think it's all mental. U play 2200s and go full sweat mode but then once u r playing ppl who aren't as good/ being over confident, u don't focus as much and make dumb plays thinking u can do thinks u can't.

  • I have a 2.7 kd for the day with 50 matches played but a 30% win loss. Does that sound right to anyone?

    • Yep. I rotate classes constantly which doesn't help. But I will go through weeks of getting 2.0 kds. Go flawless in trials. Then I get some days where I just get slaughtered Unfortunately, that's skill based matchmaking for you. The better you do, the better players you have to play against so you get your ass kicked.

    • I do feel your pain. I'm not a very competitive person. I prefer single player over anything else, never taunted an opposing player and don't give a shit about my k/d. A little human on human stuff is okay but if I do it too much I simply get filled with suicidal tendency rage. I only did a handful of Trial attempts. My best was 8 wins 1 loss. That 1 loss came about halfway through, we were 4-4 when we simply lost it in the match point. I was upset but I was paired with a close friend plus his friend who happened to be a Chris Kyle marksman. Haven't touched Trials since. Just now on my PS4 account, I was actively shooting a Titan who was leaping towards me, with an Auto Rifle while backing away. Yet this f-ucker somehow magically manages to score a headshot on me with an Icebreaker. WTF!? As soon as you go into aim down the sights mode while in the air, you fall immediately. I consider the timing of such a thing to be closely impossible, not to mention this cheap player using a year one weapon as an exploit for the special ammo limits and the fact he was scoring head shots left to right that entire match. This is the kind of shit that annoys me. Destiny's PvP simply really gets to me sometimes. I don't find this kind of frustration anywhere else, it makes me want to go back to my writing a full 24/7 instead of becoming so angry. But I'll somehow be drawn back in, that's just how it works. The best thing I found is to not indulge too much, take frequent breaks and you'll do better.
