The best of the best don't want to get matched up against equally skilled competition. They want it to be random so that they can frequently go up against scrubs that don't have a clue and get easy wins.

Which is not competitive. The whole gamemode should be competitive for everyone. We don't want to get drawn with impossibility, just a challenge.
