Edited by Vicex: 7/22/2016 2:12:21 AMHopefully less than that. 4 years undergrad 4 years medical school and then hopefully just 3 years in an emergency medicine residency maybe after that I'd think about doing a fellowship in critical care or something, but I've still 2 years of medical school left, so it's too early to tell.

Ohhh that's shorter than I thought it was. I heard it was 12 years: 4 years of undergrad 4 years of med school 4 years of grad school Or something like that

You need 4 years of undergrad and medical is 4 years. After that it starts to vary based on what you do with residency being anywhere from 3-7 years. The some people go on to do fellowship afterwards which (I think, I haven't really worried myself with them yet) can be 2-3(4?) years. Then if you do a MD, PhD instead of just an MD- Medical School is 6 years instead of 4.
