Russia isn't helping anyone atm, they're just ready to defend. However, we assume Russia would side with Turkey, or more accurately against NATO. In regards to the Air Force base, we really don't know. Power was cut to the base, and around that time Turkey attacked the base and said Turkey was no longer a friend to the US.

  • Link to turkey saying it's not a friend to the US? I haven't seen it anywhere, only the demand for an old Muslim Cleric living in Pennsylvania and the extradition of 8 military officers who landed in Greece seeking political asylum. So far they said they've kept it down because they're still looking for rogue Turkish military elements (who control a Air Force base) and are currently allowing the US to use another military base in Turkey. Obama stated in a press release he stands with the rightful civilian Turkish government. Also why would Russia be friendly to Turkey when the Turks shot down two Russian jets recently lol

  • “I do not see any country that would stand behind this man, this leader of the terrorist gang, especially after last night. The country that would stand behind this man (The US) is no friend to Turkey. It would even be a hostile act against Turkey,” Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım told reporters on Saturday, as Turkey was recovering from overnight violence.

  • Turkey is having problems with parts of its own military trying to take over the government.
