Yes, today and yesterday, and hopefully every day and year to come.
-
It's nothing compared to the Halo days.
-
I beg to differ. We dropped the ball a bit on game nights since I put them up so late, but this was such a great Bungie Day for so many people. Did you participate in any of the events? If not, I can see why you'd say that, but that doesn't make this a bad Bungie Day for everyone else.
-
That's your prerogative. And no, I didn't. The sense of excitement for Bungie Day has been slowley fading ever since 2011. Custom games are great fun, I play them every weekend or so. But I doubt that we'll ever see the community go crazy and scramble to get into the Bungie stream again, or, more importantly, to kick the devs' asses and win a steak. There was a time when the site crashed because of the amount of people looking to buy a $30 bag of junk. Where's that excitement at now? Honestly, did Bungie actually do anything this year?
-
We got Moment's of Triumph and a bunch of cool charity stuff, but this has never been about Bungie doing stuff. We, the community, started this day and Bungie helps out every year. Throughout Destiny's life, Bungie has done Bungie Bounties, where with Halo we only had one day of the year to guarantee they'd be around. It's a give and take. I might have preferred some older thing, but the new are just as great. Next year, you should definitely come out and hang out with the community. I promise you'll have a good time.

Was it created by the community? I remember it being promotional thing in the lead-up to Halo 3. Could be wrong, though. Getting back to the point, we're clearly not going to agree on this. You enjoying your game night is great. At the very least the knowledge that B Day will still be celebrated in some capacity is a form of solace, I suppose. Though B Day is simply not the extravaganza it used to be. There really is no way around it. The community creations, trailers, merch, gametypes, dev play dates, the holy steaks and Bags O' Swag — all gone.

Edited by RedAlertSteve: 7/10/2016 4:32:51 AMBungie day is made by the community, for the community
-
Again, I remember the first B Day, back in 2007, being created by Bungie. They were selling shirts in the store, I've still got mine here somewhere.
-
Technically the first Bday was in 06
-
The first one was celebrated on 7/7/07 for obvious reasons.
-
I thought we celebrated it in 06 making it 10 years not 9

Edited by Capt Explodabob: 7/10/2016 5:28:55 AMIf you check the really old posts from way back when (I'm talking before everybody started using alts and when the site actually looked cool), people were already saying that 7/7 was B Day. Though Bungie themselves first made a thing about it on 7/7/07.
-
The community made that idea because of bungie's fetish with the number 7
-
Wasn't that a given?
-
The community celebrated it long before Bungie made it official
-
Sure, if you count three guys in a thread going "Hey, it's Bungie Day!" How?" "7/7." "Cool." as a celebration. Although there was an old post which appeared to be from the Webmaster demanding that people celebrate 7/7, so that somewhat debunks your assertion.
-
Can debunk what's fact
-
Okay, this is going nowhere. See ya.
