Becoming an Iron Lord

The next DLC is about to drop and as well all know, it stars out favorite monthly guest (I could've worded that better, but oh well) Lord Saladfin--Lord Saladin himself. Well, him, and the faction he is/was tied to, the Iron Lords. Speaking of the Iron Lords, did you notice how sometimes when the Iron Banner begins, Lord Saladin says the Iron Lords are watching? I mean, obviously not literally, since they're all dead and stuff (RIP in pieces). But you know who probably is watching? Lord Saladin himself. From the beginning, the Iron Banner was lauded as a monthly competitive event that is supposed to reward a skilled guardian. Light-level advantage enable and everything, Lord Saladin was going to go all in on this highly competitive event. What I find irksome about this however, is that though it is lauded as extremely competitive, there is nothing about it outside the light-level that encourages it to be so. And the biggest reason is that the rewards are a simple RNG-based drop. That's not what the highly competitive iron banner promised. It promised to not be for the weak, and to reward only the strong. But Bungie decided to pander to everyone and make the "highly competitive" event give out medals and gold stars just for attendance. Nothing irked me more than a round in the previous Iron Banner where some idiot sucked so horribly they had a 0.06 K/D (to put it into perspective, even with just 1 kill, they'd have to get 16 deaths; i.e. they net us 100 points but get the enemy 1,600.) Yet they were rewarded. Is THAT what the Iron lords are watching for? To see the unworthy get their gear? I understand everyone has a bad game or two, but the event goes on for 7 days. There's no reason Bungie shouldn't implement a change in the RNG using a simple if/then/else procedure (if K/D is over 1.0, then add Iron Banner gear to possible RNG drop, else RNG only rewards motes or coins). Hell, they could give it added layers to make it truly fair: If K/D > 1.0, then add IB gear to RNG Else, if points > 1500 and K/D > 0.5, then add IB gear to RNG Else, if points > 2500, then add IB gear to RNG Else, RNG only drops motes or coins This would make it fair for control and rift matches as well where sometimes you have to sacrifice your K/D for the target objective. But at least have SOME sort of wall for an event that is supposed to be competitive, and reward the skilled. The IB gear is some of the most noteworthy gear, give it the class it deserves and promises like the adept gear has been given. So when someone dons the Iron Banner gear, you know they EARNED it, and it carries that weight with it that it was always supposed to have. I really want to see the Iron Banner event be what it's supposed to be, be what it's always meant to be. What better time for that to happen, than with the release of the Year 3 Destiny DLC that stars the last remaining Iron Lord himself?
