You guys should do the Halo ODST Vidmaster challenges (or not...). I remember doing Endure with my sister and her husband (get the controllers all charged, backup batteries ready, go to the bathroom before); was a long run (but fun!) to get to level 4....but we got in such a zone that when we beat it we had lives to burn. And there were just 3 of us (we stowed a 4th character in a safe corner; one of their kid's accounts).

  • Vidmasters can be done upon request in Halo 3 or MCC. If you want in, tell me and then let your host know!

  • The last one we had to complete was finishing Halo 3 all on ghosts ("Annual"). We only had the three of us, but had read you could stow a fourth character in a warthog. But it didn't work. We tried to have my brother-in-law pilot two ghosts (his daughter's account being the 4th character), but he said it made his brain hurt. So we put it aside. When my nephew was three, he took a liking to Halo games. So eventually they started 'training' him on Halo 3. Not really training- just letting him putter around in that game. Eventually they put him on the final level to get him familiarized with it. One day, my brother-in-law thought he was ready. The kid was three and a half. He was smart enough to stay back and let us clear the way. But when we got to the ghosts part, there was no hiding. And it was really hard for a kid that young. Plus my sister and brother-in-law spent most of the time looking at his screen to call out instructions and would drive off the edges. At some point, the kid said it was too hard. But we went just one more time- - and beat it! Thus, we finally completed all of the vidmaster challenges.....

  • Three and a half!? That is really amazing! I can only imagine the excitement that followed after completing something so epic.

  • Yeah after waiting ....must have been a couple of years, we were pretty excited to finally complete it. I think in the interim the exclusive helmet was available by other means (for your XBox avatar? I forget). I think also it doesn't show immediately - you have to wait through the cutscene...and all the way back to menu, finally the notification pops up. So we had the suspense of possibly being disappointed yet again. The kid is amazing at videogames- his play in Gears of War was really impressive to me (could plant grenades, switch weapons around....). I told my sister she could put him on a talkshow as a video game prodigy, but she said she didn't want to get accused of poor parenting (too much video games). He finally did get into Destiny- but was banned from playing about 5 months ago. My sister felt he was addicted- wanted to play, but once logged in, would be at a loss as to what to do. She said the game wasn't giving him anything new or interesting to do (lack of content). So he would get in, and unhappily complain constantly (he's now six) and just seemed miserable, so she told him no more Destiny.
