Weapons will always be abused/ over used. Getting rid of a strong primary like thorn or TLW just opens up the slot for mida to be abused. Leaving icebreaker behind just made Black Spindle a better option (more like the only option). Refusing to make powerful exotics doesn't prevent the community from abusing weapons, as we will always find the best option of weapon to use. It only makes the game less fun and us feel less powerful. Bungie's logic is flawed

In not saying it isn't flawed, but it's partly the gaming community's fault. Look at Division the incursion was cheesed within weeks just because it was easier, not funner. Easier. Gamers try okay a game as little as possible. Some don't but the majority will cut corners even if cutting the corner is boring. Just do a raid a see that the players would rather go fast then am have fun
