Yea they can. Granted its only 1 reported case, but when bungies first gave trifecta the fate of all fools it had a solar burn on it. Then sometime between the expansions and ttk they removed it from his gun.

The perks of the gun are specifically for arc damage. If it's removed...they remove the gun
