taken from a much much longer post.
im just thinking aloud here and wanted to share some thoughts on what I think could be added to the game universe to make it more immersive and improve general gameplay.
please let me know if you agree, disagree and just comment on what youd like to see bungie add :)
Endgame content:
I like the prison of elders and strikes in the game they are fun to do, if maybe a little too easy once you level up high enough!
But I'm thinking maybe gta style missions? If bungie could find a way to constantly give players smaller quests to complete, similar to patrols, I think this would be awesome! I don't know how they would introduce this or provide enough variations to keep players interested.
Maybe have a variety of 'small tasks' that are randomly joined to create quests for you...
A find an item,
kill a char,
reach a checkpoint within time limit,
Go to location etc
Any ideas??
Aesthetic changes and other smaller changes I think bungie could add to make huge differences in game-
These are smaller changes that could be made which would greatly Inprove the immersion into the destiny universe.
A lot of these could easily be introduced with minor work by bungies development team.
-Firstly who are we guarding ?
We never see the city or people we are protecting! Need more lore within be game
-introduce libraries into the tower. Locations where guardians can read up/watch videos of the destiny lore - the back Story, character profiles, enemy data collected etc.
There are many ways to do this from resident evil style police case files to final fantasy style enemy databases. People will read all the backstory and get involved but only if that content is available in the game!
There is already the emote and exotic weapon blueprint terminals in the game- they could extend these quite easily.
-Maybe introduce some npc vendors in a city map as well as the tower?
-Possibly introduce random 'caravans' of people travelling across the vast destiny planets that get attacked and need defending whilst guardians are on patrol or in a mission.
-maybe have some secret npc vendors at locations within the planet maps?
Hidden characters, like xur, (who change locations to prevent players farming items) that have unique gear - or cheaper gear or more expensive gear, individual characteristics and back story can apply here.
-mission screens, these need improving! The story and mission briefs given by the npc's are just two or three sentences long! there just isn't enough content given to the players. im sure the story writers at bungie could do something about this!
-camera contol on loading screens. During matchmaking and the screen where you're only looking at your ship, there is literally nothing to do!
I think if we could rotate the camera around our ships and zoom in/out - trivial to add but would introduce some involvement with your ship and character preview screens
Even if your just spinning around your ship waiting for the game to load its something!
So. Let me know what you think?
What do you agree with?
What don't you agree with?
Do you think any of my ideas would make the gameplay experience better for you?
In the hopes that bungie do peruse these forums I feel a proper discussion on these things will help both the player base and the development team to improve this game.
The smaller changes can easily be applied in patches and I think new players will get a lot more to do as well.
