Remakes and remasters are unnecessary. The only time I consider them is if I never played on the original platform and the original platform is hard to come by.
Like, I wouldn't get a remastered 360 game for the One when I still own my 360.

I wouldn't say consider a "remaster" for the people who never played it... just port it over. It's another thing that goes on a lot.

Well, if you are going to remake something, making it look nice and modern doesn't hurt. Like, H2A looked very good compared to H2.
-
But then also, that game was initially released on Xbox, not 360... even if it was backwards compatible. :)

It's true, though; they aren't necessary. Like, no one's life depends on the development of Halo 3: Anniversary. Also, learn to bold better.
It's true, though; they aren't necessary. Like, no one's life depends on the development of Halo 3: Anniversary. Also, learn to bold better.
Terrific logic. Perhaps we should shut down the video game industry as no one's lives depend on video games? Or this website in fact. This very conversation could be considered unnecessary. What an odd thing to say. I bolded the most relevant part of your post to which I responded to. If I bolded wrong, then perhaps you would care to teach me how to do it better?
-
You bolded a part of my text to emphasize your claim that I was speaking for more than myself. The portion you bolded included parts of my quote where I was clearly speaking about the conditions in which I, personally, consider buying remakes. The section you likely wanted to bold was just "Remakes and remasters are unnecessary", as that is the only part where it can be argued that I was "speaking for everyone".

On one hand you say remakes and remasters are unnecessary. On the other, you make an exception.

My statement about when I consider buy remakes doesn't mean they aren't still unnecessary. We as consumers buy unnecessary things all the time. So I wasn't being hypocritical; my conditions for considering a remake and the remake's lack of necessity are not mutually exclusive.
