The combination of the dim light and Dirae's small size meant that the fortress sort of loomed to life as she crested the rise in the centre of the area. It was obvious that something this substantial hadn't been created because of simple short term invasion. This thing must have stood for generations, which meant there was most likely no simple way to leave.
As it was all she knew about where she was, was that despite the inconceivability of the possibility, that she was inside something, not on something, and that the thing she was inside of was living. Or parts of it were.
There was a lot to take in and she really needed some answers.
