While I understand the people who are on last gen are upset, I do have to ask though....
Really? It was either sooner or later this was going to happen so why are you complaining about what is the inevitable? We (as a Community) have had ample time to put money away, work, whatever it is you do for money, to get a current gen console such as the Xbox One or PS4.
There's really no reason for people to be complaining about this. In the end, it was going to happen and moving forward it will allow Bungie to continue to improve their game.

I came here to make a similar post. I was surprised that a game like Destiny was available at the start on the last gen consoles, and I've been even more surprised that they have continued support for them this long. I feel the pain of anyone who is still on last gen, because they more than likely haven't gone to current gen because of monetary issues. But I also can't help feeling happy because I suspect that the support for last gen has been holding Bungie back from making Destiny all that it should be. Didn't they outright say that we couldn't have more vault space because of limitations from last gen? What else is there?

It's already been clarified to an extent that last gen consoles were the reason for some limitations within the game itself. The biggest roar early on was Vault space. Even previewing weapons was an issue. I agree, I am as happy as you are although I do feel bad, but in order for this game to make any progress last generation consoles have to be left behind. I stated before that it was only a matter of time, so people have seen it coming for quite some time now. We've all had time to prepare for this change.

As a "legacy" gen only owner who can ill afford a new gen console because i have to buy this shit myself and don't rely on others for my past time i can honestly say this is a load of wank. I paid good hard earned money that i earned and saved hard for to be able to keep up with this game and find it completely unfair bungie isn't going to support their player base in the same manner. It's unfair but i can understand that the cost does outweigh the return. But to sum it up I've paid over €140 which was the cost of the disk plus the cost of each dlc square as it came out and I've been playing since the second month it came out only to be told i now have the spend that much plus the price of a new console which still isn't cheap by any means in order to still get the same content as everyone else. Ideally it would be good if Destiny want to force people onto a new gen console to play their game that they give back all the money we last geners sank into this franchise so that maybe we can play it at the same level. Because that money would take a nice dent out of the cost i know this will never happen but hey. It's nice to dream.

You realize how silly that sounds.. You paid for a product no one is taking it away from you. You can still play everything you purchased. Why would you possibly expect a refund??

Dude. It's been 3 years. You've had plenty of time to save. I pay for everything myself. I recently turned 23. If it's important enough you'll save to advance. Do the math. 3 (years) times 365 (days per year). Now imagine those as dollars. You've had more than enough time to save a dollar a day for the past 3 years in order to get a new gen console PLUS The Ghost Edition and Legendary TTK versions. Trust me. I lived that life. Just upgrade and you'll be set for years to come.

It's not a load of wank, albeit your opinion, I understand where you're coming from. You've worked to make your own living and in an attempt to afford and enjoy a game like Destiny. As I did state in my previous post, it was only a matter of time before this would be announced. It's like when Microsoft announced they weren't going to continue the production of the 360 any longer, now Companies are no longer going to make games for that console anymore. That should have been a massive red flag for anyone who is and/or was using a 360. I work a full time job. I have rent. I have groceries. I have a car payment every month, car insurance, cellphone bills to pay, and everything else that comes in between. I had a 360 prior to TTKs release and put money aside in less than two months to afford a new Xbox One, before TTKs release. If you cut back on certain things like unnecessary things you can afford in two months, or just around release.
