New DLC disappointments. Ghorn no thanks.

Bungie, you've gotten some things right and some things wrong about this upcoming DLC. The only thing I'm looking forward about this new DLC that comes out Sept. 20 is that there will be new content. I don't care about new looks/shader/light. The biggest thing that disappoints me is that everyone has a shot at the infamous Gally. And the best part about the gally you're taking away from it. And that is how they could tell all their RLF and online friends how they got it. How there were only 9 or so chances a week possible to get one. After I caught wind of all the methods, I would make my attempts every week to maximize my chances. And when it happened, it was the most exciting thing ever. And then you were considered a highly valued member in the destiny community. And you can help your friends get theirs. I know you've already made the choice that everyone can get it. And it's probably for the 'betterment' of destiny. But I enjoyed how it was done in year 1, when you really had to work for it.

  • It isn't year 1 anymore. Get over it. Would you rather pick it up from the kiosk or go on an epic quest to reforge it from the armor of the former Iron Lords??

    • My friend got gjallarhorn on his first raid. It took me 1200 hours to get my first one. It took luck, not skill.

      • "Work for it"....you mean hoped that you got lucky from doing activities? I know that "work for it" shit is bullshit when I've witness a guy in 5th place get one. Anyways, it makes Gjallarhorn value go down, which is good since its a Chuck Norris's Roundhouse Kick in a Rocket Launcher form.

      • I didn't get Hawkmoon year 1. Period. Not one dropped. I didn't get Gjallarhorn until 1 week before Xur sold the second time. After 50+ HM Crota End completions, I still don't have a crux. No, when I finally got Gjallarhorn, it was not a -blam!-ing great experience. When I got the Hawkmoon at the start of Year 2, it wasn't a -blam!-ing great experience. When I get a crux, it won't be a -blam!-ing great experience. Too much time and wasted bullshit destroyed the experience, for no other reason than just bad luck. So, no. Take your special butterfly bullshit and shove it up your ass.

Sure it gets rid of that "It finally dropped!" feeling that so many people loved, but Gjally being available to everyone is a must for its return. The main reason Gjallarhorn was nerfed was due to the elitist attitude that was created if someone had a Gjally. If someone didn't have the gun, they were overlooked on many LFG sites and in turn made it near impossible to find a raid group or other players in general. Bungie were very much against this, and emphasized in its nerf about how this was a problem. If Gjallarhorn is to return, Bungie wants this gun to be available to all to prevent this from occurring again.

            • If it is a quest, it better be a hard one.
that's what she said
More PvE difficult than thorn. Maybe harder than by nightfall "mechanically".

Only 9 or so chances? Yeah right There were way more than that. it was at least 21 during HoW probably more that I'm not thinking of. Not counting pvP at all

                  • So having a large portion of the community excluded from endgame groups was the best thing about the weapon? I got my Gjallarhorn in week 4 from a legendary engram dropped by a level 3 Dreg on patrol in the Cosmodrome. I was excited about it but did I deserve to have an easier time getting into raid groups than people who didn't have it because I got lucky? When a weapon is so powerful (yes, I know it was nerfed) that people are being excluded for not having it (this is a whole different issue that really shouldn't exist in the first place), this weapon should have a guaranteed way of getting it. I do hope the questline to get it is difficult, though. That way you at least have to work for it.

You're disappointed because they essentially removed the exclusivity the Gjallarhorn created in year one? That exclusivity which prevented some people from getting into a raid party? A weapon like that shouldn't be up to chance. All of the exotic weapons should have quest lines that have you personally work to craft them all. It gives them all more of a story and meaning. Random chance might create excitement amongst friends but that video of all those people screaming with joy was actually pretty lame; there's no reason to get THAT excited over a virtual weapon.

                      • Well that works for the few who actually got one to drop. I did not as a day 1 player. I did every exotic chance there was, every week on 3 characters and never did I receive a ghorn drop. It made LFG groups a nightmare, as the requirements were must have a gjallarhorn. Got mine 3 weeks before Xur sold it for the second time. That was the biggest disappointment for me in year 1, sure it made Quodron a breeze, but up till that point the community didn;t want to team up with a very experienced guardian with a truth and forever 29 in VoG. Even Crota, while not to bad, since I had a ghetto horn, but the must have gjally was still prevelent. I prefer the way things are done now, as I feel I earned my Black Spindle.

                      • Revealing the Gjallarhorn was the biggest hype bait they had, and now everyone is blind with hype rather keeping to reality.

                          • I'd rather everyone got a Ghorn. I got one early in year 1 but was so tired of seeing the must have max Ghorn posts and actually 'strategies' being built around popping a heavy synth and firing as quickly as possible.

                              • I disagree with you I agree with this type of exotic or weapon work rng is great don't get me wrong but when you get scolded for not having an rng weapon I really agree with working for a weapon. Because this proves you put in the time to get it such as the blackspindle.

                                  • You weren't considered highly valued. You were part of some elitist group that posted in LFG "must have gally" and secluded a huge section of the community because of a weapon you got via RNG. That's like saying "must be 6'5'' and have blonde hair and green eyes" it's silly to determine those around you based upon RNG
