Game devs have the ability to update their game differently on different consoles, Bioware did it for DAI, just released the game for last gen, patched its bugs, and all updates and dlc were strictly current gen. Last gen consoles arent holding anyone back. If bungie wanted to, they could do things for current gen and not do them for last gen, like bungie bounties and the thriller dance. The problem is, Bioware didnt promise support for last gen, bungie did. You dont make promises to sell games, then back out on them once you have the money.
So in summation, bungie cannot drop support for last gen, and last gen aint holding anything back.

But they have supported it for going on 2 years so they kept their promise. They didn't claim they would support last Gen for the next x years and they obviously didn't intend to have to stretch destiny 1 out this long.

If you wanna go with technicality, they could have supported it for one month and still claimed they kept their promise. But when you say you" will support a game on both gens", it implies the whole game. Not just a part of it. They have made it very clear they werent doing last gen support for D2, but they didnt say that about D1. And its only been....what a year and 9months? thats not some outrageous amount of time for support of a game. Seeing as they claimed to have been working on D1 for 10-15 years before its release, i find it hard to believe they didnt plan on it lasting this long. I mean they have a "10year plan", i doubt it included making a new game every year, you need at least 2, even the cod games get 3 years now and those are just recycled crap.
