I hereby issue a Challenge (week 2)

Following the success of the 'Red Bar Lore' challenge, I figured it only right the next challenge pertained to the most fearsome, most terrible, and most important enemy thus far in Destiny. The challenge is thus: write Lore about Randal the Vandal This can be about anything he can be woven into (how he got strong, specific battles, etc.). Aim for Grimoire card style (doesn't have to be, just a suggestion :) ), and post yours in a comment below. The winner gets the esteemed title of Community Lore Keeper for a week (I still can't give prizes) The challenge runs from now to to next Armsday (beginning of Wednesday) when the winner will be announced and a new challenge issued... Remember this is all for fun so enjoy it :) Edit: fixed An autocorrect :) and have to say that for the first day, we have had real great work here, good job everyone, keep it coming :) Edit 2: for those interested, here's a link to the 'Red Bar' lore challenge: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/205416367/0/0 Edit 3: just a reminder that the challenge ends at the end of Tuesday, so for those who have yet to write (and want to) keep this in mind. Also I'm loving the Randal Lore you're all writing :) Edit 4: just reminding you that there's only until the end of today left to get you lore in; the winner shall be announced tomorrow (Armsday) and the new challenge issued :) Edit 5: ANNOUNCING THE WINNER Wow, there has been many great, no, fantastic pieces of lore written here, and I would like to select more than one, but there can only be one winner. The title of Community Lore Keeper goes to: LilHorsenuts Congratulations! Your words have woven a reality fit for the world of Destiny, enjoy your reward. Should you wish to maintain the title, I suggest keeping an eye out for the next challenge... But before we get to that we have to have some honourable mentions: Clone148 S1lverdragon701 Basebalbasebak14 Bacon a Chicken And a big thank you to everyone who participated in this bit of fun :) I shall have a link to the next challenge shortly but feel free to continue with the Randal Lore; you've made some legendary stuff here :) Edit 6: the Next Challenge https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/206191205/0/0 (Also, for all future challenges I shall be using the tag 'Rossap' so that they are easier to find :) )

 • From the journal of a lonely hunter known only as "Visitor" It began with a legendary engram that I found while killing dregs in the forgotten shore. I shot one and his head exploded into a shine of purple light. Well I took that engram to everyone's favorite tower personality (He of The Hool variety). He stared at it a moment, before speaking the ancient words of decryption. What he handed back to me was a cloak made of cloth unlike anything I had ever seen. Blues and Greens woven in concentric circles around a strange, vaguely head-shaped symbol, in the middle of the cloak. The hood fell over my eyes, but I found that the fabric offered special vision that allowed me to see the pure of heart. Then I heard a voice in my ears--it seemed to speak directly to me from the fabric: "I was once a reknowned killer of guardians." The voice seemed to seethe with pent up anger "I was once the only power that any had known. I stood tall over all the worlds and I was their master. But my power was taken from me. Taken by the simplest of means. A foolish mortal who called himself DeeJ found a way to manipulate the Vex Tech in the vault of glass. He took from me the only power I had known." At this point the voice seemed to grow in both volume and speed at which it spoke. "He took it from me, that bastard. I was endowed with the greatest power the Fallen race had ever seen. I stood fast while hundreds shot their mightiest rocket launchers at me. Nothing could phase me." Owing partly to the look that Rahool was giving me (and also my own fear at what I had found); I removed the cloak and fled from the tower. To the furthest reaches of moon I went. I sought to bury the cloak in the Desolation of the Hive's domain. But as I laid it into the hole I had dug, it seemed to reach out to me, it seemed to find a part of me that demanded to know more of what happened. I put it back on... The voice spoke to me instantly: "Do you know of me?" It said. I offered no reply and it continued, "I was a lord of the Forgotten Shore. I had fled there after the collapse hoping to take as much ether as I could get my hands on. Instead I found something far different. Hidden among the rocks in one of the caves I found a well of energy. A well that let me feed from its energy whenever I chose. And the energy made me stronger. I used it to take over the other small raiding parties that had set up camp in the Forgotten Shore. I used them as my first line of defense--and I told them nothing of this well." At this point I was again dumbfounded and could offer no words (though I wanted desperately to know more). "I took the name of a long forgotten house of the Eliskni, a house that had ruled our homeworld millenia ago. I became the Vandal of House Randal. And it was under my banner that those in the Forgotten Shore stood. We gathered ether by the shipload. Sending it off world to be stored should we need it. And still I told none of how I got my power. Some stood against me, but they were no match for my power. Passing guardians thought themselves strong enough to best me and take my cache of ether. But they all fell under my blade. Then the Devs came..." At this the voice seemed to fade. I pressed the fabric close to my ears hoping to learn more, but it was silent. I stowed the cloak in a container in the lower deck of my ship and returned to the tower hoping to learn more. I sought out the speaker who told me only that he had never seen the cloak before. He said that he knew of all Hunter coverings and was intrigued by this one. I could see the lust of power in his eyes, there was something that he knew which he was not telling. So I fled. It's been three moons since that day and the cloak has not left my side. I have not returned to the tower since then for fear that the speaker may ambush me. I tried to contact Cayde to ask him but he said something about a busted vault door and ended the transmission. I know only this: Vandal of the House Randal is spoken very highly of in the communities of BungieForum and Reddit. His power seems to be known by many--and his fall equally well known. I have taken to calling this cloak Wrappings of Randal and have done my best to keep its existence a secret. The power it has given me is beyond fathoming. Do not seek me out, any who may read this, for your death will be swift. I have found the well of which he spoke. It has given me the power known to some as RedBar. I cannot be stopped. And some day, maybe some day soon, I will return to claim my vengeance on those who wronged him. Someday the Iron of my blades will rise to claim the lives of all who stood against House Randal.
