Who else is hoping Lords of Iron will overhaul PvP?
Who else is hoping the next expansion will enhance PvP? While raids, stories and strikes are well and good - they get stale much more quickly than PvP. I too want a new raid and to learn something about these fabled charcters, but really what I want is detailed and stable PvP. Without PvP this game would have died a long time ago. Trials was by far the best addition to the game since Vault of Glass.
Here are some possible ideas:
1. Custom Games - This has been the number one thing the community has asked for since launch. Not only would it be so much fun, but it would add tons of replayability to the game. Besides it's about damn time.
2. Ranked Playlists - How cool would it be to play a ranked playlist where light matters? All or most of the current list would still be there for unranked where light does not matter and it would be [b]purely connection based[/b]. The weekly playlist would be ranked, have light matter and and be sbmm. Perhaps this list could be a permanent Iron Banner which rotates two or more game modes every week. Maybe it's a whole new game mode? Either way it would kill two birds with one stone.
3. New Game Modes - Search and Destroy, Capture the Flag or Gun Game anyone?
4. A weekly end game crucible activity. Much like Trials this would be a weekly thing. It could relate to either #2 or #3. Or be something completely new.
5. Dedicated Servers - One can always dream right?
While all new content is always welcome new PvP updates are what will keep the player base strong through down times. In particular Custom Games and Ranked Playlist. I would hope an expansion for the start of Y3 and the first one since the start of Y2 would add tons of new things to do. Besides it's about Crucible characters. Seems like perfect timing to me. Would even give Bungie the right window to give us the other 7 crucible exotic gear peices along with Tarentella and TG. One day Astrocyte Verse, one day.
So sound off below! What does everyone think the Lords of Iron will bring us? Just a couple weeks until E3.

6 RepliesI am guessing custom games are something Bungie is working up for Destiny 2. Anyone remember the ride along prior to TTK dropping? We were told that there would be a weekly crucible bounty from Shaxx that, upon completion, would give us rewards from the Nightfall loot table? What the hell ever happened to that?

I'm thinking we may see some new stuff, but we won't see a major overhaul until 2. Fact of the matter is, the engine for Destiny hates being changed, and it's very slow at being altered.

5 RepliesFirstly.....it's Rise of Iron Secondly every dlc so far has added to the pvp game in one way or another with the introduction of new match types (though can't remember if Dark Below added anything) Thirdly, it's the pvp community in Destiny that's amongst the most cancerous in gaming, the constant cries for nerds, ruining perfectly balanced weapons, ruining those weapons effectiveness in PvE along side subclasses and abilities. Personally I agree that the introduction of new match types would be fun, but as for ranking and sbmm, honestly forget it unless Bungie/Activision decide to actually invest in dedicated servers, everytime they've "tweaked" anything regarding sbmm ect, it's in fact made playability in pvp even worse despite their claims.

I'm hoping they'll make Year 1 Iron Banner weapons into Year 2 variants and will give Xbox players the PS exclusive armor.

1 ReplyWe need an unranked playlist, something that is purely about fun, it could be anything, mayhem is a canidate, but I'm thinking more along the lines of the old Rocket race from halo 3... We will need vehicles that can support a driver and a passenger, leaving the passenger free to shoot stuff, of course, but who wouldn't that, for PvE or PvP...

Yes because killing a online player over and over gives such a different experiance than killing AI over and over..... -blam!- PvP. It has been -blam!-ed since Day 1 release and will never be up to standards with games that focus entirely on PvP shit. Destiny is a PvE game plain and simple. Crucible is a side project. Ever read the info bits on crucible and what it was made for? Even the little story destiny has tells players crucible is just a training ground. PvE needs a complete overhaul, reason it gets so stale is because they have the same forumla but extend it. Do raid, get better gear. Add more things to contribute to light level to add to the grind session. They need a real story, and constant updates to PvE content to keep things fresh. Adding new exotics and things like the april update constantly? You wouldn't wanna play PvP.

Agree with your post, PvP somehow keeps me coming back. The only reason I do any kind of PvE is to help friends complete things like bounties or quests. But tbh, I cant even enjoy things like patrol, test weapons, strikes, raids-none of that gets me hooked. Its plain vanilla
