Smooth Jazz. Holy Shit. Just, no.
There are a ton of genres of music that are shit: screamo, country, etc. But smooth jazz takes the cake. Not only is it a bastardization of one of the most important western music genre [jazz and blues paved the way for rock music], but it is completely void of any musical creativity or imagination.

How would you compare it to free jazz though?
How would you compare it to free jazz though?
Free form jazz is certainly...weird. And it takes a certain mindset and understanding to enjoy it, and even then, it isn't something I enjoy all the time, and usually in small doses. Free form jazz rarely follows and structure, chord progression, or any discernible time signature or beat, which makes it hard to follow as a listener. But as a performer, it's probably one of the more "pure" forms of music, because you're just playing what you feel in that moment.

I don't listen to smooth jazz so I wouldn't know. I like rock music though
I don't listen to smooth jazz so I wouldn't know. I like rock music though
I mean, I don't purposely listen to it. But when it's playing in elevators or hotel lobbies, it's painful.

So basically elevator music?
