The Elephant in the Crucible with Clown Cartridge

Would you consider the people that use the Clown Cartridge glitch cheaters? My personal opinion is no because they are using a bug that allows them to do this in the game. It's like that really OP move on a character that makes it unbeatable. It's in the game, so why can't you use it. You a huge loser for doing this (I'm doing it to troll and see how much hate mail I get, I'm up to 12 lol) I'll admit that, but you aren't a cheater and can't really be banned. People would just report you for showing a bug in the system. You may be VERY cheap, but you aren't cheating. People send me "Go kill your self you -blam!ing cheater." My response is that I'm not cheating, I'm exploiting a glitch that is in the system: Lemme know what you think about this controversy. Final statement, it's not cheating, but it is in fact very, VERY noobish. Edit: I love the opinions that everybody has provided. This whole conversation will be over hopefully Tuesday if they can fix it by reset. I still stand at my own opinion of it not being considered cheating. It is really just a noobish exploit that people started to use to have an advantage WITHOUT hacking or manipulating the actual game code. Although they use it, it is not changed or altered. Thanks again for the comments and look forward to see more. Shout out to TheGreatNike <3 Edit 2: Something I thought about was that it's not too much of an "unfair advantage" if it's open to everybody to use. If a certain person could get free heavy, but others couldn't, then that would be unfair. So technically, that argument is wiped off the board. Thanks again for the opinions and look forward to hearing more

  • If you're knowingly using an exploit, the IMO you're cheating. It's kinda the same as using a controller with auto fire buttons, sure they sell them but using something that gives you an unfair advantage is still cheating as I see it. That being said if bungie would actually play test their hot fixes before putting them into effect things like this, and the old quiver glitch would probably be found and fixed before the patch is implemented

  • I think it is cheating. Not in PVE tho. Only in PVP because you are abusing an exploit at the expense of another person trying to play a legit crucible match. Basically, by using the glitch, you are ruining crucible for others who are interested in cheating to get kills.

    • If you have to say "it's not cheating" chances are it is. The thing is when you don't do anything wrong, you never have to protest your innocence or defend yourself. Examples: "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" yes actually you did Bill. "I'm not a crook" actually you are Dick. "Once and for all, I did not use steroids" except you did Mark. "I'm absolutely, 100%, not guilty" Oh OJ... Embrace it, enjoy it, you're cheating in a video game to win where you might not have without the rocket vs handgun cheat. Do I care? Hell no. But don't blow smoke up my ass and tell me it's raining either.

    • Definitely not cheating, utilising something ingame. People are salty because they can't do it aswell. What I found funny was you needed raid weapons, which means that half the crucible guys didn't even have that shit, finally pve players get something op for crucible from all their raid runs again, how it should be.

      • Is not a hack, not pulling lag switch... is an error in their code, an advantage as is shadstep bug, viking funeral, wombo combo, warlock melee range... So is ilegal to ban it, is bungo's fault... we have to wait for its fix.

        • It's definitely cheating in PvP. We all know when heavy spawns. And it's not at the beginning of a match. PvE, who cares if it's cheating or not. Because explosions!

        • The game does not prevent you from repeatedly backing out on Trials matches but you will still get a ban for doing it XBL / psn don't stop you from sending abusive messages to people but you can still get banned for doing it Just because something isn't there to prevent you from doing something, doesn't mean you shouldn't get banned. Bungie has said that they won't ban people for this so its not worth trying to report them for cheating. It does mean that Trials has been cancelled and IB has been postponed because of all the people exploiting this. This is not good for the community as a whole so people who exploit this should be reported for being Unhelpful (even if they are in your team)

        • I think that it is fair use, as long as it's within the confines of the game. That being said, to those still reading after downvoting and replying with hate messages, you should report it when you see it, not in the hopes of getting the offender banned, but in the hopes of it being noticed. I also think that if you want the glitch to no longer be used, you should abuse it as hard as you can. That's the best way to get it fixed, getting free kills. No matter how you look at this, this isn't how the game was meant to be played. But as long as it's there we should be abusing so that it gets fixed. This is just the new OP meta, and surely enough, if everyone uses it, Bungie will nerf it :p For the record, I haven't played destiny in about a month, so I've never used the glitch.

          • I spawned into a game of elimination by myself somehow and almost left but I decided to stick it out and try 3 v1. I played the game of my life and it was 4 rounds against 4. In the tie breaker round this punk actually hit me with a rocket so they could secure the win easy. In my opinion, he cheated straight up. Cheating is giving yourself an advantage that is against the rules. That is what you are doing. Sorry if you want to twist it around to seem OK. Just remember what goes around, comes around. I've only seen 2 ppl do the cheat last week so I don't think it was necessary to cancel trials.

          • Within the normal rules of Crucible, nobody is supposed to have heavy ammo until it spawns in the predetermined ammo crate locations. Abusing a bug to get heavy ammo before you normally would is most definitely cheating.

            • Having a clear advantage over anyone else ONLY through the use of some form of exploit, is by definition, cheating. Regardless of how "easy" it is to do. Major game companies have perma-banned people for far less over the last two decades.

              • I consider it cheating, mainly because it has to do with pvp. Pve cheeses I feel are fine because they aren't directly affecting another player. Pvp cheeses do, so I don't support.

Without getting dictionary technical here, yes I consider them cheaters. Why? Because they're exploiting an unfair advantage against other players. Whether or not Bungie made an oversight on this issue beforehand when it wasnt a big deal is none of my concern. It's that fact that people think they can do it and not get in trouble. Whether it's banning or cancelling Trials and IB, they're ruining the game for everyone else with thier bullshit. And just on a side note, I'm talking about pvp. Competitive player versus player. Not pve, player versus computer controlled enemies. Cheesing on a Strike or a Raid isn't the same thing, so don't try and argue with me about that.

What is the difference between exploiting/abusing an unintended bug and cheating? Wouldnt cheating include exploitation?

Yeah its totally okay after heavy has been nerfed because there was too much of it, so a bug that was never intentional for use is soooooo legal. It makes so much sense that one team can run around with rockets while the othet doesnt to make an early and easy lead, but its okay because bungie messed up right?

                  • I keep seeing posts like this. All using terms like "exploit" and "abuse". Since when we're those good things? Taking advantage of a mistake for personal gain is low any way you look at it. It's lazy and underhanded. I wouldn't call it cheating, but it's definitely a cowards way to succeed.

                  •
Exploiting
Case and point, it is cheating. Exploiting something that you shouldn't is very wrong. Some of the stuff that Wall Street did was legal but not ethical, cost many people everything they had, but it was legal. See, where do you draw the line?

                    • If it was against the AI only then in the big scheme of things I wouldn't consider it a bad thing to do... but against people playing competitive game modes? No and that's the difference to me.

                    • The issue isn't just about getting banned, cheating goes much farther than that. When heating (it's definitely cheating) you worsen the experience for new and inexperienced players. Upon doing so, there is repercussions that cannot be avoided. One of them, and arguably the most detrimental, being people leaving destiny. The more people that leave, the worse the game gets. Our entire connection is based off peer to peer connection. The less people, the worse the connection. Also, the more noobs that leave, the sweater each match will be due to the partial skill based matchmaking. I just wish people weren't so selfish and could understand the entire consequence of heir actions. But by all means, keep thinking you're cool

                      • Bungie has outright confirmed this is indeed cheating by putting a stop to trials and IB because of people like you. Why are you even asking at this point? That's like asking if murder is okay because the army told you to. no dude. it's still murder. you just get paid and slap on the back for it.

You're an ass for doing it repeatedly. That's why the world sucks. People won't behave decently unless they're forced to, or, are completely prevented from cheating in the absence of glitches.
