The 7th Baltic Manticores, perhaps the fiercest regiment of Tempestus to ever serve the Imperium, were dug in underneath piles upon piles of dead heretics. Cultists, Chaos Marines, even Daemons, they were entrenched before mounds of Warp spawns, dead at their feet. They fought viciously, efficiently, victoriously. The Chaos forces fought in retreat, but the Regiment did not move. The room was quite vast, about the size of the chamber found on the Necron mothership, only slightly smaller. It seemed to be some kind of forgotten, old, massive killzone of kinds, where glorious battles would happen in the honour of the lords of chaos. Already, the Tempestus had assembled a base. Techpriest engineers were indeed known to work quickly and rapidly under pressure. A regimental command office, blue ferrocrete building bearing the Manticores' flags, stood in a very tactically secure location. It seems the famed tactical Genius of the Tempestor Prime of the Baltic Manticores was no exaggeration:
Among the corpses that littered the battlefield, there were no imperial casualties. Certainly, there had been wounded. But none had died.
After shredding apart another group of cultists, the Kasrkins stopped firing. They saw the Inquisitor approach with the Primarch from a distance, relieved immensely that their fears of being the only imperial presence on board was unfounded.
