New Game Types Ideas

When Destiny released with only a handful of game types it's safe to say we were all more than a little disappointed. Bungie brought us Multi-team, Oddball, Swat, and Griffball, yet Destiny only had your typical FPS game types. Needless to say I expected more. The additions of Mayhem, Freelance, and Inferno are nice but they are still essentially the same game types we've had since day 1. Rift is really the only new and creative game type we've gotten since release. I personally blame it on old gen processing capabilities - they had to sacrifice quite a bit just to make it compatible with the older generation consoles. With the approach of Destiny 2 and the leaving behind of old gen we can expect to have new game types, so here are a few ideas for possible future implementation. *Bare Bones* In the Bare Bones playlist (can be 6v6, 3v3, or Rumble) everyone starts out with the same loadouts - a basic assault rifle, normal grenade (acts like a flash bang without the flash), and normal melee (no Warlock sniper melee). There are no supers, it's just purely gunplay. Weapons will spawn on map with indicators on the HUD at all times and they will have limited ammo. No ammo spawns on map. This game type is designed to even the playing field completely while still maintaining the Destiny feel. This is the playlist for all the nerfers out there. *Outnumbered* In this game type a team of 3 fights against a team of 2. This is where Bungie can get creative. They can add different buffs for the team of 2 or limit the team of 3. It's purely team death match style, but the asymmetry would add an interesting level of depth that most games don't have. Maybe the team of 2 has a speed boost and can get revives while the team of 3 is normal speed and cannot get revives. Maybe the team of 2 can use special while the team of 3 cannot. There are a ton of possibilities for this playlist. *Fiesta* Everyone spawns with different weapons and perk tree setup every life. This would be great for trying out new weapons and just having fun. *Multi-Team* Just like Halo there would be 4 or 5 teams of 2 squaring off in death match or objective game types. Chaos shall ensue. *Class Warfare* A team of 2 Hunters against 2 Titans against 2 Warlocks in an elimination setting. Spawns rotate and teamwork is vital. In the Tower there is a scoreboard that shows the number of each classes win total for the week. Say a team of Titans wins a match, a point is rewarded to the entire class of Titans. At the end of the week whichever class is on top gets a reward (if you run three characters then you will get a reward every week). This reward would be Nightfall Tier and could also reward current Eververse items. *Tavern Brawl* A free-for-all of 12 players duking it out with nothing but their fists and melee abilities. *Gun to a Knife Fight* One person has a shotgun while a team of 3 tries to melee him to death. Each shotgun kill is worth 50 points while each melee kill is with 100. The shotgun has infinite ammo so there is no need to grab special ammo. No Backup Plans are not allowed. *Achilles* A power up spawns on the map that grants a double overshield to one player. That player has one weakness - his Achilles heel. If you hit the Achilles heel with a single bullet he will die and you will receive the power up. Longest to hold the power up wins. These are just a few ideas that I've had over the course of my Destiny career. Obviously there is some work that could be done on these, but I think a few creative game types would be a quality addition to Destiny. Let me know what you think or if you've got any other game type ideas. I'll add them to the top of the list if they are good.
