Valid proof pls? Also the only reason the north 'had slaves' was because of missouri because it was above the mason-dixon line but the missouri compromise allowed it.

The Emancipation Proclamation officially ended slavery in the U.S. When was this signed? [i]After[/i] the Civil War began, therefore the Civil War didn't start because slavery was abolished. Could the the Civil War have started because the U.S. was threatening to abolish slavery? Of course. But that's clearly not what happened. If the Civil War really started over that issue, then African Americans would've been able to fight in the Union's army much earlier.

Emancipation Proclamation didn't free the slaves. The 13th Amendment did.
