Nah, if bungie did this then Triplewreck would lose followers and they don't want that to happen.

Don't want to go full spinmetal foil hat but I can see the mutual benefit. Bungie makes trials impossible for average players->flock to streamers for carries->streamers get subs and ad revenue->bungie gets a nice check from Activision for making another esports event for them to profit from.
