Xfinity is notoriously bad. In every aspect. Customer service and actual service. I would know, I have them as well. And Bungie runs on a P2P connection when in a party/fireteam. What is important is how well the host can connect to Bungie and how well everyone else can connect to the host. Bungie doesn't have dedicated servers. If you're still running WiFi, get off it. That's the first step. Second, if you're using the provided router, call CSR and tell them to turn off the feature that allows your router to be a public hot spot. And follow the recommended configuration on your router settings (like upnp, opening ports, etc.).

  • We don't use an xfinity router. It is the highest and best NetGear. And Xfinity is not bad! I get 9 ping, and over 200 download speed and 20 upload speed, on wifi! On Xbox, 70 download speed, and it works great with literally any game, BUT Destiny! And Xfinity support isn't bad, the longest I have waited is 2 minutes, and always get greeted by a real person, not some robot voice or recording. I don't think you should be calling them notoriously bad, considering you are the first person I have ever heard complain about them, everyone else i know that has it, is having a blast. And P2P meaning player to player? That wouldn't work on a game like this. You need to have multiple servers to run connection and allow players to access the game itself. If the game only did P2P, this game wouldn't have lasted more than a month, or possibly not even past beta with that setup. And my router settings are set properly, everything is focused to the xbox over anything else. and hotspot is not on, ever.

Hello! After reading your thread, I would like to add if you're constantly getting the Baboon error, you may be encountering some "Packet Loss" issues. https://www.bungie.net/en/help/?search=Baboon There will be a link to "packet loss" and the Network Troubleshooting Guide internally. If you're using a Wi-Fi connection, switch to a wired connection. This makes Destiny more stable. https://www.bungie.net/7_WiFi-Convenience-vs-Stability/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=13604

  • Well I can't use a wired connection because the router is upstairs and the Xbox is downstairs. And there is only one Ethernet cable plug in the whole house so I have no way to play the game wired. But the fact that I have no issues wireless with other games, and having issues with this game, I think says something. If Bungie doesn't have dedicated servers, perhaps they should switch to that because it seems to work a whole lot better for every other game. Or maybe Bungie can add some sort of option to lower effects or quality on the game settings like other PC mmorpg games do to help players have a faster connection to the game and less lag/fps issues..?

You can refute everything then without doing your research although I already mentioned how Bungie's "P2P" works. Bungie has no dedicated servers. If you believe everything is perfect on your end and it's still being shoddy, this game isn't for you.
