Wow. This is an actual result of our weakened participation trophy culture. To be the best beat the best. If someone is good enough to keep going flawless while carrying a scrub or two then they earned the right to keep doing it. Your solution is that things should be made easier so you can feel like you're better than you really are. Rub some dirt on your wounds, walk it off, strap it up (maybe you could strap one on), and get back out there and be better. I know you won't understand all of that because you've been taught that showing up is enough to win. It's not and "there's no crying in Trials."

  • I'd say sir that you are echoing the world destroying "elite culture" where people are starving in mass over seas while 80% of the worlds wealth is held by 1% of its population... Year after year each Country's economy falls into recession, eventually rendering people world-wide, unable to continue the mass consumption created Corporations, due to not being able to afford a damned thing. In comparison, the "trophy culture" you speak of is the least of our problems, yet you are more than willing to be a proponent for that mongrel attitude... And in predictable fashion... You speak for better players while brandishing an absolutely abysmal K/D. Tell me, how many times a week do you lick the boots of your masters?

  • If I pay to join a softball league (because I'm old at this point) and I'm facing off against a bunch of semi-pro ball players while I'm on my team of normal people consistently getting our teeth kicked in, I'm probably not going to go sign up for that same league the next year. This is the same deal with Trials right now- normal players of the game, even pretty good players, are consistently getting their teeth kicked in by all these semi-pro sweaties (if you stream/carry for money, I think that qualifies you...). That effectively shuts down an endgame goal for a large portion of the community in a way that nothing else does- if I beat Oryx, it doesn't mean that you can't, because us both winning is not mutually exclusive. In trials, both of us winning IS mutually exclusive, and a relatively small portion of the community is exploiting that. That isn't just irritating, it is harmful for the community as a whole. What we are talking about isn't "trophy culture" BS- this is a legitimate issue which will (and has) affected the long-term health of the Destiny Community. As PvE content inevitably gets stale (you can only stand on a stupid platform and shoot a knight so many times...) people inevitably move to PvP endgame, which is, by its very nature less predictable and less apt to get stale as quickly. Effectively closing that off to the vast majority of the community makes it exclusive for no good reason- and it therefore locks people out, sending them off to other games, making the community smaller. That is the issue with the current matchmaking system. Your "trophy culture" psycho - babble is short-sighted and ignorant, and does not apply here. This is about the vibrancy and longevity of the Community, not about feeding the egos and wallets of the few.

  • Maybe you should try playing trials sometime. According to destinytracker you played 41 games and won seven. And that was on May 22nd 2015. Haven't touched it since.

  • Your rebuttal has nothing to do with my post. I wasn't complaining about people being better than me.

  • It's not even "I'm better than you" it's literally "I've actually played trials regularly, gone to the lighthouse a dozen times and this is the state trials is in right now" while you haven't even played it for almost a whole year. Please. Go run some trials this weekend and come back when you have actual experience to back up your opinion. I would love to hear it.

  • Still...this has nothing to do with my post. You want people that are better than you banned so it will be easier for you.

  • No they want people banned that are charging money to help the less skilled players.

  • They want people banned that are better than they are. If the sherpas were losing instead of winning nobody would want them banned so the money is not the real issue here.

  • Well I think it is the issue. Opinions vary.

  • Would you really want them banned if they weren't that good and lost making it considerably easier for you to get to the lighthouse? What you and others have posted is that at 1 flawless run a character should be out because it is too hard to win against good players. As I have stated a person should not be required to step back because they are good. My KDR or number of times that I have played have nothing to do with it. The cream rises to the top and if you want to be the best you should be able to beat the best. Reducing competition so you can have an award is no way to achieve anything (in a video game or in life). As is evident from the responses I've received too many people think they should be awarded for simply showing up. That is sad and indicative of our participation trophy culture.

  • I'm not saying they should be banned for being good. To charge lesser skilled players is bad though imo. I think it needs looked into. It's not for me to have it easir either. I don't play Destiny at the moment.
