I wouldn't be surprised. Having an existence that is decidedly different from what is accepted as being "normal" could very well have that effect.
You have to learn to live in a world full of people living life a certain way, which includes general societal interaction norms. This could force you to mentally develop to handle the differences.
This development would require a level of self-comprehension that may be more extensive than most kids.
I don't really have a clue, just had a moment of stream of consciousness.
