The old one was based around game play on a tablet. You'd control a drone and could help your team it looked awesome but was totally OP and they found this early on in testing so it was scrapped.
Will they make an app like bungies? I don't know but I hope so. It's been asked for a lot so I'm hopeful.

I just don't get why they aren't in the process of making a new one

I'm not sure TBH you'd think it'd be a big thing seen as most ppl use phones for everything now a days. I do suspect and expect one tho.
