You see, both Earth and Moon pulling each other. But, due to the fact Earth has larger mass, Moon's gravitational force only affects Oceans.

Do you know what would happen if like, the moon was parted in two halves and they both kept orbiting?

I think that would go in a horrible way. Like something similar to eh..you know the movie time machine? Where moon blows up so hard? Something like that.
