Honestly i think that if snipers could one shot off of a hit to the torso they would still be underpowered compared to other weapon types. Because of the extremely low max sensitivity in this game, a sniper is handicapped in any sort of close quarters or midrange engagement. It takes hundred of hours of training to start getting consistent headshots in a game with predominantly close quarters maps and a highly flexible movement system. Imo anyone can pick up a controller and go on a 5 kill streak shotgunning in close quarters, which requires no precision, only some basic evasion skill and an understanding of where the 1hKo dropoff range is. I've spent a lot of time sniping in various first person shooters like halo, battlefield, and the old cod games and it feels like destiny has mechanics in place specifically to make sniping as difficult as possible. The way turn accelleration works makes me think that bungie intended to limit the effectiveness of sniping in almost every situation except extreme long ranges.
