I have to agree. I'll be the first to admit that my preferred style is aggressive close quarters combat and thus I prefer shotguns, but in IB I've been using a sniper and I'm actually amazed at some of the shots I've got. The majority of the time it's cross map, blindsiding someone, that is not threatening me in the slightest. I'm freaking terrible at snipers and have been able to get some decent headshots (some questionable as to whether I was actually on the head). I think the major problem is that sniping has such little risk associated with it currently, where shotgun has the map, handling times, movement, range and the opponent working against it. Snipers need more mechanics that the player has to wrestle against to level the playing field.

 • That last paragraph. If only every single person could just read that last paragraph, then maybe, JUST MAYBE, they'll stop being narrow minded dumbasses and actually comprehend what's going on in this game to see this first hand in-game. What I'm saying is, that last paragraph says everything in the shortest way possible.

 • You're making the assumption that everyone is approaching the topic logically. I would say this is largely projection. Look at the general opinion expressed on the topic. People want to protect their advantage. The people defending the current meta are made up primarily of those who defended the last meta. When some other strategy is pushed into the limelight they'll "adapt", switch their strategy to whatever grants the greatest advantage, then defend that when people begin to take issue with it. Even if they won't admit it, to even themselves in some cases, a large portion of the playerbase doesn't actually want a level playing field.

 •
You're making the assumption that everyone is approaching the topic logically
I guess that is too much to ask. Fck me, right? I think this game just needs to not have metas. There's so many weapons and such diversity among them all, I should'nt be seeing the same 12 goddamn weapons every lobby.

 • I wholeheartedly agree, but sadly you and I are in the minority. Before online gaming became the norm you'd have some friends over for a gaming session. There would always be that one friend who'd pick the boss character, or the clearly overpowered weapon. Everyone would sigh, and make snarky comments till they stopped. In the days of online anonymous gaming there's no one's opinion they respect to stop them, and they drag all of us down with them. In short, "this is why we can't have nice things".

 • That last part made me smile. Game has the potential to be great. Just super unbalanced.
