Honestly, Taken gear doesn't seem to work lore-wise, and neither does PoE dropping gear from other raids. Why would there be Taken in PoE, if we removed Oryx? Can someone else Take enemies? Who's overseeing the Reef, since Mara Sov and Uldren are lost? Skolas is also eliminated, so why go back to PoE?
Then again, Bungie made the Grimoire viewable on a 3rd-party site, so questionable decisions regarding lore are sure to happen.

We all grind the raids after we've defeated the final boss so this trend doesn't really need questioning. Unless it's lore wise.

Pretty much. The only confirmation that we had is that picture. Something looks Taken, Guardian's are wearing PoE gear, background looks like the Reef.

Well it was never said all the taken would die out, and oryx turned entire races into his taken army So it's viable IMO that there still maybe 100s of thousands of taken left

it could also be the prison of elders is before the actual death of oryx, even though we killed him in the raid you can still run the raid again afterwards with him being alive (each instance of the raid could be set in a different timeline or something).

Hmm, yes. Like those games where you beat the final boss, but when you play it again it's before the final boss fight and there's still stuff you could do.

Ok, so Taken are left without a master, but rather than hunt them down, the Awoken put them in PoE so the Guardians can eliminate them? That at least makes some sense.
