The Pokemon are even more OP in the anime.
Nightmare is an extra dimensional being that is made of the collective fears of humanity.
Sol Badguy survived going back in time and killing himself.
Joe diamond absorbed one of Galactus' world beams and reflected it back at him. Any beam is useless against him.

Nightmare is from the marvel comics universe as well. If survived something that should erase you from existence doesn't help I don't know what will. He's one punch man. Ergo, punching the laser would defeat it.
