Doesn't make any sense either. Streamers shouldn't get money or attention. It's way overrated.

  • Wonder how many streamers would still stay if they cut off donations and let's just say PayPal "stopped existing" stay becuz it's actually their passion to stream for an audiance,or be and entertainer, or be a "content creator" ? Lolzzz

  • I wouldn't go that far. It can be as much of a profession as anything else.

  • They play video games...nothing professional about it.

Then why are there million dollar tournaments for games like DOTA, League and CS:GO that acquire millions of views on stream and in person? Why are there professional teams that have contracts and tryouts and everything sports teams have?

  • Because it is nothing more than kids with too much time, and no real responsibility. Plus it is a glorified advertising scheme. The game publisher puts those together for money and attention. Any person can become really good at video games if that's all they do. These "tournaments " are for attention and to make video game addicts something to do.

Athletes play sports. Nothing professional about it. See how stupid that sounds? Sports and gaming can both be professional.

  • I like video games like the next person but it's not anything professional. Sports are fun but athletes are WAY over paid. Not even in the same category bro. Button mashing and being in top physical shape...different worlds.

  • It really isn't. A majority of pro gamers are physically fit, and the amount of skill and dedication involved is on par with sports.

  • Hahahahahahahahahah....that's me laughing at how ridiculous that is. Saying pro athletes and gamers are in the same physical category.

  • Maybe not physically but the amount of skill and dedication required is exactly the same.

  • Clearly you've never played sports or even watched them.

  • I don't watch them or play them but I don't need to in order to know that it takes a lot of skill and dedication to go pro. Same with competitive gaming. Pro gamers aren't lazy like people think. They have to work hard to get to where they are. They have to get noticed, play 10-12 hours a day with a team, they have to learn the maps, the weapons, and they have to perfect their playstyle. Anyone who thinks it doesn't require hard work, is an idiot.

  • You're comparing physical grind and hard work to sitting down and trying to perfect a video game playstyle. Sitting there for hours because you have nothing to do all day in front of a tv isn't. The amount of dedication and time you have to put in to a sport to be a professional is nowhere near the amount you need to be a "pro gamer". Sorry to bust your bubble but being good at video games isn't some great talent. It's not something you can tell people and have them take you seriously. It's not work experience. When you get out their in the real world you'll understand this concept. You kids that think competitive gaming are the equivalent to sports like football, basketball and baseball are a complete joke.

  • Except that video games are mental memorization and the ability to carry out actions whereas sports are physical training
