Yeah god was kind of a dick to Job. For no reason either besides a bet with the devil. Talk about effed up.

Because the devil bet him on it. Let's put Job through a series of nonsensical and cruel tests just so I can beat the devil! Suck it devil!

God knew Job was faithful, and made sure that Job's life would be spared in the process.

How so? god murdered his whole family. Don't know if I could ever recover from something like that no matter the "twicefold" rewards.
