The Thousand Yard Stare has a meaning outside of Destiny.
The Thousand Yard Stare is the emotionless and somewhat unsettling stare of WW1 soldiers after living their lives in the trenches and under a roof of arcing artillery, constantly barraging the enemy. It started in WW1, but the term spread throughout the upcoming wars, especially Vietnam.

In my head they wanted to use 1000 [i]Mile[/i] Stare but couldn't for some reason.. Alright... Just let me believe my musical fantasies PLEASE lol xD They put a "Plug One" in for all the De La Soul fans out there (much love Bungie you're AWESOME) and I feel like this was similar...
