The Thousand Yard Stare is the emotionless and somewhat unsettling stare of WW1 soldiers after living their lives in the trenches and under a roof of arcing artillery, constantly barraging the enemy. It started in WW1, but the term spread throughout the upcoming wars, especially Vietnam.
Look it up, my phone won't let me upload pictures right now idk why.
Just a caution some are actually really unsettling
The whole 9 yards.... 50 cal machine gun ammo belt is 27ft long Bite the bullet: they did this because they had no anesthesia in emergency field surgery. Chow down: came from WWII. Most gun names and their description in destiny have a meaning. Load up your inventory and start googling.

Edited by LDSG BossMan: 2/29/2016 5:53:12 AMActually now that I think about the name... It could be from American sniper. Some of you may not watch R rated movies so you won't know (I don't either, but I found a website that filters stuff out) Anyways without spoiling too much, (read at own risk of spoilers)
a very good sniper, named Chris something (forgot last name) had his team pinned down by a terrorist sniper that hits his mark at over 1000 meters out. (Hence, thousand yard stare) so Chris took the chance of revealing the location of his team to the terrorists and killed their sniper from over 1000 meters as well, even if this isn't the true name for it, it's a good connection. Also, 1k stare does talk about yknow looking into others lives n stuff or whatever, which connects to Chris himself as he suffers from PTSD, a very traumatic disease that basically makes you relive parts of your life that no one should ever have to see twice, let alone once. Had family in many wars.have seen this stare personally. Its very unsettling.

Psychopathic? Really. The "Thousand Yard Stare" is a look in the person's eyes as they relive traumatic memories and you get the distinct feeling they don't see what's in front of them. They are looking at visions of the past that will haunt them forever. Their eyes glaze over, they don't respond, they look at things but are actually looking far beyond them. The Thousand Yard Stare is most commonly seen in the eyes of veterans who have seen war that has cost them a piece of their soul and all of their innocence. It is also seen in any person who has suffered a traumatic experience, such as seeing the death of a beloved person or death at all and are unable to handle it. Don't call it psychopathic because it isn't.

It's also the way I look when I lay in bed at night, staring at the ceiling. Afraid to fall asleep to nightmares of the 1000yard trials sweatys.

Edited by FromNowOn: 2/29/2016 5:29:55 AMI like to think that some Sound Designer just really really loves Venetian Snares and inspired the weapons team with this wicked piece of music. In my head they wanted to use 1000 Mile Stare but couldn't for some reason.. Alright... Just let me believe my musical fantasies PLEASE lol xD They put a "Plug One" in for all the De La Soul fans out there (much love Bungie you're AWESOME) and I feel like this was similar...
or not and I'm just totally crazy
-
Legend has it that their stares were able to bend bullets through walls and track enemy domes
-
It's the look in my eyes after playing iron banner and getting killed constantly by it... Fitting.
