Oh, so that's a way for a PvE event...

Balvog, Shield of Oryx. Ecthar, Sword of Oryx. Not to forget the collection of Crota's limbs and Omnigul, his will. Who else thinks the Taken could be revamped SPECIFICALLY for patrol mode and we are told to go to a designated planet for a given day and hunt down the various leadership factions of the Taken? These enemies could hold out to remote regions on those planets specifically to avoid detection like the Spire on Mars. I for one would enjoy the idea of new taken coming forward to replace Balvog and Ecthar and/or Sardock (story mission for those who forgot. Oryx's eye). Or Omnigul and Sardon. So the Hive or Taken aren't your fancy? Ok. All enemy factions on a given planet start showing up in force since the departure of Oryx. They now don't feel as threatened and wish to contend for planet supremacy. Our job is to ensure guardian rule by repelling additional forces on the various planets and Dreadnaught during a given week. If guardians collectively succeed? They are granted a brand new item slot: Titles. The titles would be specifically to show participation in the various events coming forward later. For example? Participant in Queen's Wrath from Y1 could be bestowed the title of "Queen's First" here on bungie.net and/or in-game. This event? Faction Loyalty. Say you participate in another event like Balvog on the dreadnaught? You could be called Precipice Walker. These titles are not just the only thing though. The ideas for rewards could be endless. You could be given a rare material like for our swords. If collected and gathered? Faction rep specifically for one faction could grant exponential amounts (or timed exp gains) or maybe this item, when collected into the hundreds of amounts, could grant a single armor piece to become year 2 or a little more powerful then it's year 2 form. The point of this reward is obviously to give additional comfort room for things LIKE raids and other PvE related endgame. With the recent expansion talks for PvE, I think it's time to make patrol more relevant specifically to entice the fireteams to go back and enjoy those public events. What better way to introduce that then areas with limited public events get a higher level difficulty and if you are too low light level? Your ghost speaks up issuing a warning we should level up some more before going into this. If you do? It's on you. The event should be tailored to slaughter those to discourage participation if you are under leveled (think of these public events like facing level 300 enemies on earth. 305 on the moon. 310 on venus. 315 on mars. and 320 on the dreadnaught with a final appearance of an enemy (world boss potential) over on a remote point of Mercury for example. How many would love to fight a final boss for an event on that solar landscape? (I might be a little biased. /s)

So how would this help me get to max light level? Slay a few bullet sponges alongside a few competent players and score some 320 items? Pretty simple. And therein lies your problem. Why should I go insane with bad RNG in the raid or badly balanced PvP when I can fly to a planet and kill stuff? You'd have to put in the same bad reward system in this event in order to prevent it from trivializing the other methods of getting 320, or make it like Crimson Days where everyone who participates gets a free sympathy prize handed to them because the system sucks so much. It just sounds mostly self-defeating when you factor in how endgame loot works in Destiny. You should consider some more advanced game mechanics for these PvE encounters in order to better justify handing out desireable endgame prizes.
