Well, the very definition of otaku is not the same as weeaboo. Otaku is a literal Japanese word that's basically their version of 'nerd'. So, is there a difference between a nerd and a weeaboo? Yes. So there's your answer.

  • Otaku is a term to define someone who has an obsession with any hobby. American "Otakus" have an obsession with anime and japanese culture, therefore they are weeaboos.

  • Wrong! A weeaboo is a non japanese person who basically denounces their own culture and calls themselves japanese. They try to learn japanese through the anime they watch and usually end up pronouncing it wrong and looking like a complete idiot. KEEP IN MIND: that a non-japanese person can like the culture, watch anime, speak the language and RESPECT THE CULTURE, while still keeping in touch with there own.
