Axion Deathchorus: Exotic Sidearm Concept

The purpose of this concept to have a weapon that challenges you. It will kill you if you fail, and it will reward you if you succeed. The duration of the reward depends on how fast you complete its challenge. Name: Axion Deathchorus Type: sidearm (special) Archetype: lower rate of fire, higher impact, and higher range. Damage Type: void Item Text: Thanatonaut analysis suggests the soul of a deathsinger dwells within the weapon's crystal core. They speak of a 'killing logic' that must be exercised; prove yourself worthy of becoming part of the song. Appearance: a Hive acolyte's shredder weapon (picture), but with a crystal embedded in it, and three Hive runes. Exotic perk [Deathsinger's Chorus]: Holding this weapon activates a Deathsong that will eventually kill the wielder. Obtain 7 kills with this weapon in time to gain the Deathchorus Brand to survive the Deathsong. The Brand provides overshield, increased range, and faster reload for the remaining duration of the Deathsong. Long version: Switching to this weapon activates a 30 second Deathsong effect that will kill the user when the timer reaches 0. Obtaining the 7 kills with this weapon before the timer reaches 0 will grant the user the Deathchorus Brand effect which lasts for the remainder of the Deathsong timer. The Deathchorus Brand allows the user to survive the Deathsong effect, and grants the user an overshield, faster reload, and increased range for the weapon. The Deathsong effect is cancelled and progress towards the Deathchorus Brand is lost if the user switches to another weapon. Example of the weapon in use (1): I switch from my primary to the Axion Deathchorus sidearm, and I see the Deathsong effect on my screen starting with 30 seconds and counting down. If the timer reaches 0 before I get 7 kills, I die. I kill 7 enemies by the 16 second mark. The for the remaining 14 seconds of the Deathsong effect, I am granted the Deathchorus Brand effect. The Deathchorus Brand gives me an overshield (like the sunsinger Flame Shield), faster reload, increased range for my Axion Deathchorus, and it protects me from the Deathsong's killing effect. When the timer finally reachers 0, I do not die because I had the Deathchorus Brand, and both the Deathsong and the Deathchorus Brand disappears. The cycle briefly repeats, and the Deathsong effect returns with the timer once again starting at 30 seconds. Example of the weapon in use (2): I switch from my primary to the Axion Deathchorus sidearm, and I see the Deathsong effect on my screen starting with 30 seconds and counting down. If the timer reaches 0 before I get 7 kills, I die. I try kill 7 enemies, but I run out of things to kill, so I just switch back to my primary to cancel the Deathsong effect. *The time limit and kill requirement for the effects are subject to change based on balancing needs, as can the actual bonuses from the Deathchorus Brand effect. EDIT: - This is primarily for PVE. - Getting 7 kills in 30 seconds for PVE is far from difficult. - If you don't want to die, just switch back to your primary or heavy before the timer hits zero. It will reset the kills progress.
