Remember Damage Control? Yeah, Bungie implemented so red bars, like yourself, would not benefit from having a bad connection. Maybe you're stuck with it, maybe you're using a lag switch; only your ISP knows for sure. Edit: Damage *Referee.
What will happen (again, in theory), if my connection is bad? Paul: If your connection is bad, we'll be giving you even more reasons to improve it. Expect to lose fights a lot more often, even if you think you shot first or escaped behind cover in time. Things will get much better once you fix your connection, but at least you'll receive fewer angry messages in the meantime.
• First off, I don't use such devices and I greatly dislike people who use such methods. If I'm going to win, it will be because my skill surpassed that of my opponents. Second, the Damage Referee appears to only be enabled in Control match types right now, not in CD. Third, my internet is reasonably stable so I get few red bar matches to begin with but even with them, the match still plays as normal, even for the. And last, not only is this the first time in 3 days worth of CD (with some red bar matches in between, but those still played as normal) where this has happened, but this is the first time I have ever seen no damage shots period, and I've been playing this since the Beta. Oh, and before I forget, this no damage thing was just for the hunter, I could shoot the warlock just fine, but if the damage ref was in play, I would not have been able damage either one.

 • It's definitely your connection. Latency will show what appears to be a hit and deal no damage. The bar color is your connection compared to the group, not necessarily a bad connection. You could be green and still lag or red and completely fine. Regarding the damage referee, I would assume Bungie is testing it in Crimson Doubles, but not saying anything.

 • Still doesn't explain why the effect only applied to one player instead of both

 • Your connection was red the time you died. In none of the clips did you deal any damage. I am convinced it was your connection. Just be ready for when damage referee officially drops.

 • Yeah, should have left that part in but it was edited out for time. Here's the part where I actually did damage, and it was the only time in all 5 rounds that I had a shot at that warlock. First shot hit immune, pulled too soon. Second shot, headshot for 64, standard for that weapon against the revive damage resistance. Third shot clean miss, he stepped out before I fired, not suprising given the slow fire rate of that hand cannon. Both hits registered immediately and with the appropriate damage (or immunity). But every other firefight it was me against that hunter who always seemed to go for me first. And as far as I know, the damage ref is just to give advantage to stable connections by basically giving them first dibs on who shot who and negating the after fact damage from laggy players since they are already technically dead . In the first part of the clip, he didn't even hit me when he stepped out the first time, so even then my shot should have registered at some point because I never died, but instead it was erased.
