Scare who away? Assassins creed fans have been slowly declining as they lose interest after the last 4 games...

What little of the fans that hope for the game to still be assassins creed in some way. A complete overhaul might drive whats left of the original fanbase away similar to halo. They wouldnt recognize the game that caught their attention in the first place. If would work great to bring in a new crowd for the next little revolution in gaming. I dont mind some of the newer mechanics, but the story is kind of a train wreck. That probably needs to get taken care of first

But tediously making the same game with a different theme is sooo much better...

They have to try to keep some elements the same or else it wouldnt even be assassins creed anymore. The game would turn out to be witcher or phantom pain with assassins creed slapped across the front. The idea of assassins vs templars is great how it originally was with more friction between the two in and out of the animus. Since they killed off desmond they let the story go all sorts of wrong. I used to care about the conflict in story and its characters, but now its all about guns, boats, and how little you need to be an assassin because everything is solved with alerting the town of your presence so they can file in and be killed with a series of sweet combos.

Assassins Creed isn't even Assassins Creed anymore.... A rope launcher? Wtf? A top hat? Buggy game? One year development cycle?
