The guardians watched the blocks form and disappear. The sequence wasn't completely random, but it had a very complex pattern. "Master Jal, can you see the order?" asked Brian. Master Jal was stroking his chin as he thought. "I.. believe.. I do." Master Jal pulled out his ghost. "In case I'm wrong, revive me." Master Jal jumped! At first, nothing was below him, but as he was reaching his deadline, a block formed under his feet. He jumped to the next block with ease, but the next one already formed! Master Jal ran to the edge and jumped before the block he was on vanished. He jumped to a ledge on the wall to take a breather. Master Jal had to jump all the way across the fog filled ravine. He took a deep breath, jumped, and peacefully glided across. "Just do what I did! It's easy!" yelled Master Jal through the fog. Everyone slowly looked at each other. Like Master Jal said, Brian, Clara, and Dakota made it across, slowly but surely. Isaiah walked to the edge, waiting for the first block to form. As soon as the Vex tech appeared, Isaiah jumped and landed on the block. He jumped to the next one and sprinted for the third block. As he jumped, the block vanished! "ISAIAH!!" Dakota screamed in horror, afraid that he could do nothing. "Aahhh!" Isaiah flailed his arms in the air as he fell! Daniels, thinking fast, dove for Isaiah! As soon as Daniels caught his hand, he jumped once to change their velocity, then jumped again to get to a nearby ledge. Both were breathing hard as they tried to keep their balance on the narrow path. "T.. th.. thank you, Daniels. Nice catch." Isaiah spoke between each breath. "Don't thank me yet, we are still ten feet away." Daniels shuffled along the wall. When Daniels and Isaiah made it to the group, everyone gave quick hugs. They waited for their blood pressure to drop before continuing. "Get out your machine guns and spawn some heavy ammo synthesis." said Master Jal as he reloaded his machine gun. Everyone did the same and walked on. Like the rest of the Vex labyrinth, the path was another series of turns. The final stretch was a straight and wide path. The air was filled with the core lights of hundreds of fallen ghosts, they watched the guardians walked towards what was doom for most. The guardians' bone chilling walk was abruptly halted by a large, triangular door. "Welcome, my friends, to the Vault of Glass." Master Jal held up his hands as if beholding the door. "If this is the Vault of Glass, then what was all that?" asked Daniels facetiously. Brian sighed. "He was not being literal when he said that!" "No, he's right." said Master Jal. He looked to Daniels. "All of that, back there, that was just the padlock. This is the true Vault of Glass." The ground began to tremble and small rocks fell from the ceiling. Everyone looked around to see what was causing the tremors. The door was opening! Each side moved back and at a downward angle. The next room was an amazing work of art. It was a large, open room with two time gates in it. Several tiny glass crystals in the back of the room caught, and bent light making it seem like it stretched for a hundred miles. There was only one problem with the whole structure, the thousand of Vex crawling around in it. Dakota laughed and cracked his knuckles. Towards the back of the room, a single Vex hydra sat back and patiently waited. Dakota raised his new Icebreaker, taking aim at the hydra, but several precursor Vex swarmed the team! Bullets blazed and the sound of shells hitting the ground echoed between the walls! Soon, all the Vex were wiped out! Everyone focused their firepower on the gate lord in the back! It quickly teleported after taking a little damage. Everyone looked around, but no one saw it. The team slowly spread out around the room searching for it. "No eyes on target." said Dakota into his headset. Suddenly, a salvo of axion blasts flew towards Brian. "I found it!" he shouted trying to dodge the attacks. Everyone rushed to a vantage point and fired! The hydra started flinch and jitter as it took oncoming fire. It managed to teleport away before dying. The hunt was on again. The team split up once more looking for the one Vex. Clara found the gate lord hiding close to the closed door. "I found it!" Everyone ran over and collectively shot at it. The hydra tried to shoot back, but there were too many guardians shoot! The hydra burst open and fell to the ground. It exploded again after two seconds. "Look. The plates for the time gates are lighting up!" exclaimed Brian. "Which one do we want to? East gate or west gate?" asked Daniels. "Everyone close your eyes and point to a gate." demanded Master Jal. Everyone did as they were told. Three people pointed to the east gate, two people pointed to the west gate, and Daniels was pointing to a rock. "We need three people out here to hold the gate open. The other three will kill the gate lords inside." said Master Jal. "Yes, Sir." replied everyone collectively. Dakota looked Clara. "You will hold open the gate with Isaiah and Daniels. Master Jal, Brian, and I will go in." Clara crossed her arms. "You don't let me do anything fun." "I am trusting my life in your hands, Clara. I know people who would take advantage of that." Dakota gave a small laugh. "Alright." Clara rubbed Dakota's helmet. She, Isaiah, and Daniels stood on the plate and opened the portal. Master Jal, Brian, and Dakota jumped through. "Venus? It took us to Venus?" asked Brian. "This was Venus before the Vex. We time traveled." answered Master Jal. "Watch it! There's the gate lord." said Dakota as he shot the hydra. The other two shot the hydra as well and destroyed it with ease. The team jumped back through the portal, startling Clara. "We're back. That was a good run, now let's do it again!" yelled Master Jal pointing to the the west gate. The team of six ran around the pillars to the next gate. Clara, Daniels, and Isaiah stood on the plate. The red ring sank into the ground and a white ring replaced it. The portal whirled to life. Master Jal, Brian, and Dakota jumped in. After twenty minutes passed, they jumped back out. "Alright guys. We killed all three gate lords, next is Atheon!" Master Jal threw his fists in the air in excitement. The team gathered in the center of the room as a spark of energy collected in the back. As the spark grew, Atheon spawned! "D***! That is one h*** of a Vex!" exclaimed Brian. Vex spawned around Atheon and fought towards the guardians. The room flashed deep red with every Vex charge. "Is this it?!" yelled Isaiah. "Why would you ask that?!" asked Dakota. Atheon reached his hand into the air. "See what you've done?!" asked Dakota mockingly. All of the sudden, Master Jal, Brian, and Clara were teleported from the room! "Master Jal! Master Jal! Describe your location!" shouted Isaiah! "Mars... it looks like Mars... west gate!" replied Master Jal over the comms. Dakota, Daniels, and Isaiah rushed for the plate trying to reopen the gate! Through the comms, Dakota's team could hear the three in the portal panic! "Clara, stay calm! Follow Master Jal and Brian to the gate!" demanded Dakota. "The oracles! They're back, red this time! And my vision! I'm going blind!" Clara's suffering tortured Dakota. Dakota looked to the two other guardians. "Get this d*** gate open now!" The red ring switched white and the gate activated! As Dakota waited for the rest of his team to get back, he shot suplicants, exploding harpies. "Master?! Brian?! Where are you?!" shouted Clara in the headset. Daniels rubbed his head as he shot the suplicants. "What are we doing?! We need to help them!!" yelled Daniels. "That is my love in their, Daniels, but the only way we can help them is by keeping their escape open!" shouted Dakota. "You two can keep the gate open, I can help them!" yelled Daniels running to the gate. "DANIELS!! Stop!! We need your help to keep this gate open!" demanded Dakota! Daniels looked at the gate, then to the guardians, and back to the portal. He spawned a golden gun and ran in! "S***!" yelled Dakota clenching his fists! "Dakota, remember when we were kids? We pricked our fingers and formed the bond. Remember what we agreed on?" asked Isaiah calmly. "Yeah. Brothers to the end, my friend. Brothers to the end." answered Dakota. The two guardians tried to hold the gate open, when a suplicant flew beside them and detonated! Dakota and Isaiah were flung off the pedestal! Dakota helped Isaiah up as they watched the gate close! "Nooo!!! No!! No!!" yelled Dakota. Their connection to the other four guardians was lost with the closing of the gate! "Dakota! We need to go!" Isaiah grabbed Dakota's arms and dragged him to the door! A sniper shot Isaiah through the head, killing him instantly! Another sniper shot Dakota through the chest! He fell to his knees, his face landed on the jagged stairs. He activated fire born and stood back up! "That f***ing hunter! That f***ing hunter! That f***ing hunter should've listened!" screamed Dakota furious! He shot the Vex that were swarming him! Radiance used up, low on ammo, severely injured, and out numbered! The Vex shot his knees, Dakota fell leaning against the door! Never giving up, never stop shooting!
