Weapon and gear rolling needs changing (genuine feedback, no whining)

This game is mostly based in RNG as you know and the current system requires 3 level of RNG "luck" to receive a god roll. The item dropping, the light level and the perks ( which requires 4 lucky rolls to get a god roll). Currently there is a great way to skip one of these levels (the light) by infusion. It works wonderfully and you can progress towards increasing the light. But you still feel like you are wasting your life trying to get the perks to roll correctly, on a gun that might not even drop. The house of wolves tried to fix it, by letting you re roll many times. But it still didn't work because it was to easy to get the god roll you wanted and required no effort to receive the wanted prize. Currently my efforts feel wasted trying to get new gear. The main RNG side of the game is to get the gun you want. However the light and perks are something you should be able to work towards and make progress. So my proposal is this : Make it so that you can infuse a perk from one type of gun into another gun of the same type For example, I have the fusion rifle i have been dreaming off but its got terrible perks. Doesn't matter. I have another fusion rifle that has "rangefinder" on it that i can infuse into the perk slot, losing the gun in the process. Also the process shouldn't come cheap, it should be a healthy amount (15 motes, 35-40 marks, 5000 glimmer) It would keep the grind going but with a reward at the end. This would allow a person to make progress in the game instead of feeling cheesed off all the time. Perk infusion, write it down bungie. Plz :)

  • All we need is reforging back. You can't have weapon balance if RNGesus only blesses a few people with perfect rolls. I wouldn't mind if I could turn the weapon into the Gunsmith and I'd receive random rolls every week until I get the one I like.

  • I like the idea- another one vie heard that made a lot of sense to me was to just increase the drop rate of legendaries- that way we feel more rewarded, and we get more chances at our "god roll", the grind feels less endlessly unrewarding, but because we can't pick and choose specific perks, it also avoids the inevitable power creep which we saw with HoW shoguns (rifled barrel, shot-package, performance bonus, agg ballistics). Just another method of tackling the same problem

  • We shouldn't need this solution. We had rerolls with banshee and the weapons already reached max light. The only rng roll needed was the weapon in the first place and the grind was only to get materials for the reroll

  • I wish they would scrap some of the crap rolls they brought in. They know there are quite a few rolls nobody likes, and makes the weapon useless in our eyes. Maybe they thought them useable, but they only need to look at what we use to determine that we don't like it, don't use it.

  • I just remember so many perfect roll felwinters, party crashers, matador 64's. raadegasts fury's, ash factory's from last year. Can't see it being done.

  • That would still be about as easy as reforging. I do agree it needs to be addressed

    • It needs to be limited, or else I'll be abused to no end just like reforging was. Limited like, you could only choose 1 perk to change for that gun, rather than both/as many times as you want. The other issue is the raid guns. They all have a signature perk, cocoon. Would that be replaceable? Would it be transferable? And then moving on what about the built in perks like Cascade on Nechro or Last Resort on the Lighthouse weapons. How would those be handled? And then some guns, not exotics, like Omolon weapons can roll certain perks that Hakke weapons of the same weapon class can't. How do we handle that? Imago Loop can roll The classic Fatebringer perks, FireFly + Outlaw + Explosive rounds, but the Eyesluna can't. Despite being hand Cannons that aren't from foundries, so how would those be handled? While I love your idea, these questions I asked are what Bungie would ask. And would stop them from implementing what you suggest.

something to raise light level other than pure luck based drops are needed. they need to raise the glimmer cap and charge glimmer and small material costs for upgrades. full customization could go something like: you get a base weapon or armor piece choose from multiple appearances (both exotic versions and legendary versions with or without the exotic perk each having differnt costs) with 3 spare slots and choose from perks each has different costs (depending on how powerful they are) where the item changes colour and/or shape depending on choices.

      • I'd actually love this... even if it cost 10k glimmer per perk infuse. I have several scouts that I use for different situations like a grenadier treads, and some different not like the others... would be nice to be able to get grenadier and something else nice all on one scout. The thing with something like this, though, is: the perk you want to infuse onto this gun from that gun - would have to be able to appear on this gun on it's own. Like: no explosive rounds on omolon scouts or suros scouts, so couldn't infuse explosive rounds from a treads or NLTO onto a omolon/suros.

      • If it was 1 perk on that weapon. 1 time. EVER. Then I'd be fine with that. I'd also be fine with them letting us reroll each weapon ONCE. Allowing multiple rerolls while having abundant drops didn't seem to work out back in HoW from what I hear. But now there are no rerolls and weapon drops are far too rare. It's usually a legendary class item, boots, or gloves. Armor isn't too bad, but when it comes to gun rolls... man nothing beats exhumed, <reload perk here>, and guerrilla fighter all on the same weapon.

        • This is a great idea. Even if the cost was higher. I usually have all the commodities you spend in gross surplus.
