The regular ODSTs don't really stand a chance against the 501st. The 501st is called 'Vader's Fist' for a reason. Rookie, though, being fairly capable, would be able to take a good amount of them.

Proof seeing as the ODSTs very well may have more experience. Also this is not Vaders fist, they were beaten by Ewoks :p.

The 501st is different than any old Storm Trooper legion. They were the best of the best in the Clone Wars, serving under direct order of Anakin Skywalker. They served many dangerous missions, and became known as 'Vader's Fist' because they were his personal batallion, and because they would utterly crush the opposition. They were originally led by Captain Rex. It is unclear how many of the original 501st remained in the Galactic empire, due to them being clones, but I'd imagine those in Vader's Fist were expected to live up to the legacy set by the Clone troopers. These are not the troopers that were beaten by Ewoks. Those troopers beaten by ewoks were regular people who served under the Empire. The 501st would easily have seen more battle than many OSTS could claim, and underwent more rigorous training as well.

Some of the ODSTs have survived a large amount of or the entire Human Covenant war which lasted for 27 years vs the Clone wars which lasted 3, so the ODSTs easily can have fought in more battles. As for training a skill can only be honed so much before being perfected. Both sides would have reached that level.

  • I know just a joke. The ODSTs are also considered among the best, titles are meaning less without feats in this case.

  • The thing is, they earned the name through their feats. Also edited the reply to your post, so you might need to check that out

I saw, the ODSTs also gained the title of best in the UNSC (before the Spartans came around).

  • Very true. I'd still argue for the 501st having more experience, though, because there were battles almost always happening. The 501st was always where there was action, and oftentimes facing up against the likes of Count Dooku and General Grevous. That meant heading up against the toughest enemies all the time. Other thing is that the best ODSTs were not always together. They each saw different parts of the war, at different times, with varying levels of importance and such. I would say the 501st and ODSTs would be more on par with experience if you took the most decorated from all of the UNSC and put them together, because the 501st is a very decorated unit.

  • I don't agree personally as the UNSC fought over an estimated 700 worlds and the ODSTs were also mostly on the front lines (granted their is no official number for all the battles the 501st fought in) Plus a important thing to remember is that the ODSTs are special forces, while the 501st however skilled are still not considered special forces. I see this battle as 1000 highly skilled clones vs what is more or less a group of 1000 ARC troopers personally, however that's not to say I think it's one sided because the 501st are incredibly skilled and could win.

  • I can definitely agree with that.
