Mida needs some tweaks

So imo mida at the moment is unbalanced and has pretty much 0 drawbacks/flaws. To start it's in a tier of scout that 4 shots to the head similar to voc tier but mida shoots faster so big advantage there in ttk. For some odd reason mida has a huge mag for a scout rifle at a wopping 21 bullets and on top of that it's base reload is maxed. Like in what way is a large clip with max reload balanced? You can just spam shots forever without having to reload its insane. There's no penalty for missing shots! On top of that because of a large mag and fast reload why would you ever use field scout or whatever the other perk is that's not lightweight. Then worst of all the mida without a doubt in my mind has high caliber rounds as a secret perk. Those high caliber rounds really make it so u can't compete with mida from long to mid range because your getting flinched like crazy. Also the zoom on midas scope is too close it's meant to be used at long range as a scout why is it so effective in mid and extended close range. I'd love to hear what everyone has to say supporting or arguing against my opinion please comment with something to add to discussion. Edit: a lot of ppl are touchy on the phrase op so i changed it. I'm enjoying the healthy discussion in here. Although there's still a lot of people just bashing my post because they love their mida. Also a lot of ppl are assuming I'm bad because I'm criticizing mida I just want the weapon to stop out performing other weps in there intended ranges where a scout shouldn't win. Midas strength should lie in it's actual exotic perk the extra mobility and hair trigger which equates to good strafing, getting to advantageous positions faster, and faster reactions. I don't understand why people are replying this because my post isn't about it but ill address it. the comment of "why are you just now complaining about mida and weren't last year?". The answer is easy in year 1 there was a much bigger issue of the 2 shot exotic handcannons that killed at scout range. Additionally I think the last weapon update was just in december? Correct me if thats wrong but the meta only recently set in so this is the most appropriate time to address mida. I know I'm not the only one thats experienced it but I've been in close quarters to mid range situations with a pulse or AR and midas high cal rounds cause my gun to kick up like crazy so I can't land shots but the mida's totally fine and continues to peg me. I don't understand in what world that makes sense for a scout rifle to out perform a mid or close range weapon in their intended ranges respectively isn't that the point of the weapon classes? Another comment I'd like to address is "wow if its so good why don't you just use it". The thing is destiny is a game filled with many guns that surely aren't meant to just be there as filler. They all should be viable choice in certain ranges/situations. I don't want to be forced into using 1 or a few select guns that are top tier just to be competitive and have a chance at winning I like to have fun using all the guns. After all isn't that what they're there for? I'm going to add suggested changes so people aren't so scared of a nerf. I suggest: mida's mag reduced to around 15 or the reload is cut in half mida's secret hcr are removed and replace quickdraw or field scout on the midas perk tree with hcr increase the zoom slightly on midas scope to make it more of a long range weapon and to not perform so well in closer gun fights.     It's called the Mida Multi Tool for a reason. It's just the right archetype for most ranges and is pretty much one of the most versatile guns in the game. You mention it's like VoC but can't you remember guns like the One One Synthete and the High road soldier?(You can shit on people just as well with VoC archetype) They are the same archetype as Mida it just doesn't pop in loot that much cause bungie hasn't added any legendaries of the same archetype. I do agree with you though I think Mida has high caliber rounds but oh well that's what gives it an exotic feeling imo.

  • Just for everyone's reference: Base Damage increased slightly for "Medium" to "High" Rate-of-Fire Scout Rifles. Small adjustment, does not change shots-per-kill in PVP against another Guardian with full health Magazine Size increased on all base stats (Aka How much ammo you can carry on your person at all times, which does not affect the performance or its SPK) Accuracy when firing from hip is reduced (Really only works with High stability Scouts) Damage done against AI combatants increased by 5% https://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Update---09082015/en/News/News?aid=13474

  • Well with the current snipe metta mida is needed to counter those annoying people who like to sit in the back and snipe instead of engage in primairy gunfights. It is funny that mida was never even considered an op weapon to use untill patch 2.1. Its not op its just very good at what it does.

  • Let me point something out for all of you. MIDA has not been changed since the game's release and it shouldn't be. Bungie has done almost nothing to scouts in the year and a half of this game. If you want stuff to be balanced don't complain for a nerf to a gun that is only out classing everything else because bungie doesn't know shit about balancing the other weapon classes.

    • Don't have a problem with mida. Or any primary for that matter. I have a problem with the special weapons. Everyone says snipers are running around like crazy, but its the special ammo. Yeah I know that they messed with it, but there's so many spawn points on these big maps and it respawns so quickly. Never run out of ammo.

      Its always been that way lol... we predicted every single post like this in November....mida was not buffed... everything was nerfed so people switched to it. And since everyone is using it people complain... same thing happened with vex (which was trully out of control) , thorn, and then red death

      • Well the reality is that this weapon has not changed much. Since people went away from Thorn , Last word and high impact pulse rifles this is the new please nerf weapon. It will always be something. It's just what most went to that is why everyone is talking about it. So I just be a Warlock and use Tlaloc which beats Mida all day once that super is up!!

          Mida is not overpowered and has always been a 4 hit kill weapon. If you used it back before the TTK you would know this. As someone who has used it since July, I haven't noticed anything new about it except that the aim assist is ridiculously high. So the Mida isn't the problem, its the aim assist. Nerf that and it won't seem so OP anymore.

And to everyone [b]now[/b] saying stop with the nerfs you guys are the reason the nerfs happened before with your constant complaining but now that the mida is in the nerf crosshairs your trying your best to save it. I hope it gets nerfed and i hope most of you stop using it because it becomes trash.

          • Unbalanced? Lol no every other weapon in this broken ass game has been nerfed into the ground. Instead of asking for nerfs, ask for buffs to the other weapons to make them viable again. The pvp in this game has gome from close quarters gun fights to long range sniping. I preferred the close quarters fights. Seemed more fun to me.

Ever used the mythoclast lately? It's like an op auto rifle with 45 damage a head shot. Now THAT is a little op

            • Well if you find a gun is OP... frigging use it. However there are loads of other things that out gun the Mida including Not Like the Others, Cocytus RR4 and even NL Shadow 701X. However Mida is a reliable Scout Rifle which is excellent to practice headshots with before you move onto slower RoF, higher impact scouts. Which in my opinion, are the best weapons in the game due to a lower kill time... 3 shots and you're dead. However I think you have mistaken OP for Overused. Granted it does have very few drawbacks but it can tackled easily with a bit of preparation. Also third eye has its uses but you can get that on pretty much every primary weapon. The hair trigger does shit all for RoF and the bonus movement is a nice touch for both PvP and PvE. Try the gun out before you bash it on forums.
