Do you honestly fail to see how if you use both of those algorithms that one of them will take precedence over the other if you are going to produce one result set? I think you are assuming that latency is measured to a fixed location. No, latency is measured between peers. A host is chosen based on who has the lowest latency to all match participants. If those match participants are chosen based on a skill bracket and not location then you are gonna get latency all over the place. It is simple: choose a pool of possible match participants based on location and peer latency. Then build a game based on skill and wait time. Boom we are back to decent games.

  • You're still not getting it Everyone online has various internet speeds, up and down That is unaffected till you're linked to a host Bungie sees those speed pre game-that's how latency matching works Ones does not take precedence over the other It's a tiered system, first latency puts you into a certain bracket And then from that bracket you're matched with people that match your skill Keep trying

  • Wow you just described giving connection precedence over skill. Well done. I think you finally have it.

  • It doesn't take precedence dumbass..you could reverse the system and have skill brackets refine first and then latency second and you would get the same result. Can't tell if you're really this stupid, or just trolling for attention Either way yours is a sad existence

  • You really dont understand how this stuff works and then you call me stupid and sad. What if there are 5 people that are worse than me but have a good connection and 5 people that are a skill match but have latency. If I first filter on connection i end up with the 5 bad players with good connections. If I first filter on skill I end up with 5 players with latency that match my skill. Order matters. Plus you are stuck thinking that a persons internet connection determines their latency in pvp. No no no. A persons latency in pvp is determined by all the network infrastructure between the player, the host and the other players. A person can have great high speed internet but if the host is on the other side of the planet they will have latency.

  • Okay kid, I'll make it even more simple for you You aren't just being matched with 5 other people for a team You're being matched with everyone that is in the same skill bracket as you. Also, latency is affected by individual internet speeds. Yes it does change depending on who hosts, but bungie can look at everyone's Internet and form brackets based off of those speeds; you'd have a bracket for red, yellow and green bars. Once again Let's say you have 100 people in the que 50 don't have the same connection strength as you, so they are out of match making for you That leaves 50 Of that remaining 50 only 25 are in the same skill bracket as you So overall that leaves 25 persons for you to match with for a game that have the same skill rating and connection strength. In-game those numbers are much greater in terms of match making population So if you don't get it now, I can't help you And neither could your pre school math teacher

  • Its funny to argue with someone that thinks so statically. Yes in a perfect world where there are plenty of people in your skill bracket online and in pvp at the same time as you then this will work out. But the higher your skill that bracket gets smaller. If the system can only find 5 people in your skill bracket but they are all over the globe with crappy pings to you then the priority matters. If the priority is skill then you end up with a laggy game in that scenario. If the priority is connection you end up playing against players in lower skill levels. You are a typical static thinker who cannot fathom the real world. Its sad that you keep trying to insult me when you are exhibiting your small mind. It seems like the vast majority of people in destiny who arent brain dead understand this simple concept that placing skill as the priority results in a direct relationship between skill level and laggy matches. This is made worse when you play off peak times and as destiny pvp population dwindles. I guess I should stop arguing with an idiot because you know what they say...

You should stop arguing because you're looking pretty damn pathetic Lol 5 people In be entire community that you think can measure up to you? Hahaha okay kid You're in the %19
which is sad for the time you've played
So, using bungies currently sbmm you have the possibility to be matched with people above and below your bracket So that's over %30 of the player base as a potential match So tell me again These 5 people you can only be matched with They come from your small brain ? Or out your asshole
gg kid
• Wow... More evidence that shows how incompetent you are. 5 people is an example because 5+ me = 6 which is a full 3v3 match. You do understand what an example is right? Not one place in any response did I make any statement about my own level of skill. I am comfortably in the middle. Anyway, it is clear that you are a complete idiot and I hope for the sake of humanity that you are never in a position where another human beings life relies on your critical thinking skills. Good day and may God have mercy on your ignorant soul.

  • Except you aren't being matched with only 5 people The match making starts long before the 0/12counter fills So not only did you fail at that "example" you're getting impressively pissed because you no had clue on how sbmm and latency matching worked. GG fool
njce rage quit kid
