I vote to continue SBMM. Give Bungie a chance to fix it. I'm 72 years old and new to gaming. I started with Destiny last January and it's the only game I play or have ever played. Before SBMM I always finished last in Crucible. My skills are never going to get better, only decline as I age and I think there are many players like me who because of age, physical disability, or just lack of skill will never be able to compete with the elite players. I know players in their 40's who never go to the Crucible because they can't compete. SRL was another place where we average players couldn't compete with the elites. When I first started with SRL (always finished last there too) I would be 1-5 seconds behind the player in front of me and 30 secs. behind the winner. Then as the elite players learned the map and took over the winning times dropped precipitously and players like me couldn't even get credit for finishing the race. So what happens? We go to the Crucible or SRL or ToO and get annihilated repeatedly and realize we will never get the kills necessary to complete Crucible bounties or quests or win the SRL race or reach the Tower. Is this fair to us? We are stifled in our ability to rank up or get certain weapons and rewards. I can't tell you how many times I have received absolutely NOTHING from a Crucible match and if I do get anything it's useless! I had a similar experience with SRL awards. I realize that the very skilled are going to be rewarded more than the average or poor player, that's the way this game and life works. But we mediocre players paid the same for the game as you elites so if Bungie feels they want to throw us a bone, I'm in favor of taking it. Should the lagging problems be fixed? Absolutely! No one should have an advantage or be put at a disadvantage due to a connection problem. Other solutions have been posted on this thread such as a ranked system of competition and dedicated servers. Anything would be better for the majority of players than to continue with a minority of the community dominating everything but PvE. Their influence there is also huge as anyone who has searched LFG looking for help can attest. You have to be +310 to be able to find teammates. I would be content just playing PvE but we are out of content. I am astounded that Bungie will have no DLC's for a year. Take your shots at me. Bring it on. I don't care!!!!!!!!! At 72 you really don't give a sh*t about other peoples opinions of you. I am always amazed at the venom and hate spewed forth on this forum. I've met many caring and helpful people in Destiny who have taken me places in the game I never thought I'd go. Unfortunately they don't come on this forum.

  • Just sucks for others, i would understand there are a lot of advantages in sbmm though so I see your point, its just the connection has more potential to be terrible, as well as you having to play your hardest to not get obliterated when you're more skilled

  • It's not a black or white issue. I'm pretty sure SBMM in some form or manner has always existed throughout the entirety of Destiny's lifespan. After the Dec update, it's been given a much higher priority in matchmaking players. Most of the people in this thread (myself included) are simply arguing that connection/location should take priority for a better quality experience overall (regardless of the outcome of the matches) To accomplish this while also avoiding long wait times between matches, the "skill" requirement will need to be loosened. A pure SBMM system is essentially what a tournament is... Nobody wants to compete in a tournament environment ALL THE TIME. This is a game, it's supposed to be fun.
